I'll chat tonight with Uli tonight at dinner. And see if we can $ave you that money. It's at a super budget Gourmet Restaurant. Faux French. Only the best genuine imitation ingredients need apply. (that's how they keep the Menu "half price") And the Master Chef... Looks "just like" Gordon Ramsay. Simply amazing!! Chris

So I finally had a chance to rack one of these up and I have to say it sounds pretty darn good. The build quality in terms of switches and jacks and stuff is rather shocking for a Behringer product. Everything clicks nicely and feels sturdy and secure.
The sound is also more than serviceable. Having used the RND 535 for a few years my experience with diode bridge is that the makeup gain sounds really cool but is very noisy. My quick assessment on this one (only had a couple hours last night) is that the gain has character but less character than the 535 however it comes with less noise.
And of course it's really easy to dial in but Behringer doesn't get credit for that, we can thank Mr Neve for the usability of design.
Summary... I've made WAY worse purchases for $500.

Well my plan was to relegate it to "hero channel" use in my live rig if it didn't cut the mustard, $250/channel is barely above dbx 160x cost. But after one night I'll tell you there's no way I'm "wasting" this thing on live applications. It's way better than that. And the lower than expected noise means I'd even be comfortable running it on mix bus which was where I tried it last night. Having an analog two stage compression before going back to digital could be very useful for my workflow. Pleasantly surprised.

Can Warm's version (clone) of the B-word reproduction (clone) be that far behind? Not my words, but those of a leading designer in the Pro Audio community (not Paul Wolfe but he would likely say the same thing) "The cheap and rip-off clone market is a disease to the audio industry. Kudos to those who at least try to be something a little different or unique." They will follow the Stam example and do it in a 500 series version 😁

I do like to use judgment in such voting. For example: If a manufacturer (whoever it is) is using slave labor, for instance, I would not want to contribute to that by purchasing from such a manufacturer. To some extent, almost all of us buy products where the morals of the manufacturer are highly questionable. I am no exception. But Behringer lost my trust big time, and I would need to see some evidence from their management that they recognize their bad past acts and are somehow changing their ways. There are so many awesome human beings involved in manufacturing, I really like to give them the money.

I think the price is stellar, even if it's kind of it's own thing Vs. the original Neve it's based on. I also like the sound samples I heard on Youtube (It sounds a bit cleaner, more hi-fi than the old Neves to me, but that's fine). And I LOVE that it's got stepped controls for the price.

My buying Berhinger products is no different and I'm certain there are very large number of people in Japan who do care very deeply about poisonous by products!

I've been using some Behringer live sound products (B112D, B110d, B1200D powered speakers and an XAir16) for the past 10 years or so. Sure, I'd prefer to use the QSC K12's and such, BUT... they weigh almost twice as much and when I have to move all that crap myself, I prefer the lighter Behringer. As long as you gain-stage it properly, it works. Push it and it turns to crap. So I don't push it. I've actually gotten many many compliments on how good the sound was at local shows (and it's mostly small shows where only vocals and acoustic guitar are in the PA so really not difficult, but you know how it goes...). Anyway, point is, they do have products that work and for me, have lasted pretty well too. No issues really.
The 369 looks interesting, but I probably wouldn't use it enough (or the UA plugin I already have)

Drawmer moved onto crazy stuff and Aphex died. They killed off KT and Tannoy. SSL committed harakiri in slow motion and the decapitation never came. Luckily great digital took over but it's not analog and only really available on computers except for the handful of good Waves utilitarian plugs and the old Oxford stuff on Avid venue systems. The clones and emulations hold productions back. There's still cool new stuff of course but the big boys are competing with Behringer or selling to educational institutions.
This is in despite of for audio ICs and clocking getting much better. THAT Corp stuff is great and cheap but how do you sell a super advanced, all in one, analog engine based units to people who don't know how to use a compressor and want to use what Jimmy Page used for noisy 70s DI guitars and what CLA used to make distorted vocals that never jump out of the speaker in those late 90s and early 2000s productions? How do you sell stuff inspired by classic circuits but heavily cleaned up to not be ringing, resonant, distorted, muddy pieces of crap that had to be worked around? They don't even know why this stuff had nasty side effects because they worship it and old productions where the distortion was usually worked around. Then they buy clones and emulations that often defeat the functionality because the cloner has no idea how to use the piece either and why it is usable or sounded cool. Sometimes the original manufacturer is making clones or emulations that are self-defeating. Behringer was just the original cloner and muntzer but was cloning contemporary stuff.

I've not heard one - but I've yet to read a negative comment. I've always wanted to try one - lovely build quality too (as all Buzz gear is)

I've always wanted to try one - lovely build quality too (as all Buzz gear is) The Buzz DBC 20 is phenomenal but not at all like a 33609/2254, at least not imho. The 33609 has a stronger box tone and different compression behavior. The DBC act more like a vari mu in action.
