Just to be a devil's advocate to myself, I can see how UA comes to the conclusion of "the plugs are $39 fucking dollars - what else do you people want?" And to be fair, I'll take advantage of it. So, I'm talking a little out of both sides of my mouth. But all of this has def made me want to find a even better solution for my front end. But I haven't found one yet.

I can help Quint. UA didn't cave. I saw that long term users were not getting pricing they wanted when compared to the native deals we were offering new users. I convened a "user panel" and gathered ideas and crafted offers based on them. Myself and my team created the coupons and emails and sent them out. They turned out to be some of the most successful promos in the company's history, bringing in record revenue in Feb and March. There were no restrictions to these offers other than time. They were so successful that I am contemplating bringing them back at some point, likely in the doldrums of Summer. Hope this helps. I mean - thanks? Those were good offers...but I've already purchased (most were triple digits) everything I want. Why would I pay $299 for 10 plugs I don't want or need? I didn't use it. Here's the deal: UA feels like they're pursuing the right direction. Some of us feel a bit "burned" because this was a fundamental change in strategy for UA. This is the perception - UA used to be perceived as "they're expensive, but you pay for quality. The DSP tech is better and CS is great." I bought into that hook, line and sinker. And it was that way for a long time. Now - I have to admit - my perception of the plugs are different. Other companies are surpassing the tech, exceedingly rare sonic updates and Phat Beatz just bought a plug for $29 that I paid almost 10x the amount for. I understand the counter argument...yes, the plugs still work, everything always gets cheaper blah blah blah. But I do think this has changed how I feel about UA. I understand their view, but I have to do what's best for myself and if UA no longer offers that, then I'd be out. You wouldn't of course. The offers were designed to give "power users" better pricing and they took advantage of it, big time. Everyone was free to ignore as you did. Indeed, we need to earn every new and continued customer/purchase. Have a look at what we're offering at any given moment and make the best decision for you. That's all anyone can ever do. Thanks for the feedback.

We could probably end the thread here.

Translated:
The offers were designed to give SOME "power users" (whatever that means) better pricing if they were willing and interested in buying plugins in a short time frame, from a list of unowned plugins they may or may not entirely have an interest in purchasing, but UA made a lot of money!
But nice offer UA!

Users with 2 more more UAD devices, and/or 80+ plugins owned. And as mentioned, everyone was free to ignore and not buy. Why would they if they're not interested??? Of course they would not. So TONS of users scored lots of plugins they wanted at historically low prices. And yes we made money. That's sort of the point of having a business. This is a win for all involved.

Corporate window dressing, at it's finest. Please go do your "control the narrative thing" over at the UAD forum with your fanbois. They eat it up over there. I know you think you're advancing UA's cause, but, you should consider that, at least around here on this forum, it might be having the opposite effect.

If Drew fart on someone's face over there, they will say "oh, uad's fart, so warm and with lots of depth, I could not leave without it" Everytime I go there, I leave feeling that it's most value is as a social experiment about the relation between humans and brands.

I really don't want to get into this - because I can see both sides... BUT let's be real. UA offered a discount on digital products. It's not like UA had to go build them all. A free one time two free plugins for this group - or something similar - would have cost UA nothing and been an actual GIFT to "power users." So, the "here you go loyal customers that have kept us afloat for 20 years, this is your opportunity to pay us even more. You're welcome..." comes off shitty to me. But that's the last time I'm going to talk about it. Regardless of how everything has gone down, I'm still using UA HW and SW...I just know where I stand now.

I'm sure Drew's farts are lovely. And with that, what else is left to be said. Closing the thread and it will be here for all to read.
