I did a super long 3 part video series comparing my Box Console to the Vision Channel Strip. I went super deep deep with a mic splitter and recorded a whole song sending everything to the console as well as the UAD preamps with the Vision Channel Strip on it with similar settings (preamp, eq and compression both analog and the plugin on every track). I even finished everything with Luna Summing and the Analog console mix. I don't want to hijack the thread, but there's PLENTY to digest with over an hour of content and full session files. I was tired of some of the big YouTube channels kind of toying with comparisons and ultimately "phoning it in" trying to do similar things. I went all out, and not to sound cocky, but I don't think you could be any more thorough than that short of redoing what I did on the exact vintage Vision console UA used to do the plugin. It was too bad I didn't get as much traction as I was hoping with that one, as I literally spent months of work on that. UA ended up taking a lot of issues with my methodology at the end and copp'ed out on sharing any of it because they felt like there was too much of a different between Vintage and Modern API. Meh, anyway... This Pulsar Modular plugin Got a link? I’d assume it didn’t live up to the hype? You can sit through over an hour of me walking through things and doing sound demos, or just download the full session files and go through things in your DAW is you're actually curious... |

What about what the MDN Sidecar plugin does to the stereo image?
I remember that while demoing I was really unsure if I liked it or not. And it was very obious and strong to my taste.

So I invited Ziad here to discuss and - I told him I was blown away by the plug and was going to buy regardless (if it becomes a thing, I'll post the exact email), but if he wanted to trade an NFR license for adspace, I'd be dumb not to do it. But "But certainly no pressure. Like I said - this is something I'm willing to pay for because of the quality."
I got back a reply - with links to threads on this board - that Gearslutz has garnered over 400k views and 97 pages while the same plugin on this site had one page and he "had to defend himself." And "Thereafter, I opted not to engage on your forums but take a peak from time to time. "
Alrighty then. That was the one way to get me not to buy this plugin. Thank God I didn't already buy it.
BTW - it's a great plug, but there are plenty of options. Just thought you'd like to know.
I don't usually disclose communications...but I'm sure since he had no problem telling me to take a hike, he won't have any problem with people knowing it.

Weird. Basically said that this place was irrelevant. That's fine. People DID DOG both plugs lol. The price, that it was basically just a filter, etc. I can see how it would piss him off. And hey - if he makes a shit ton off bedroom producers laying down phat beatz - then he SHOULD focus on GS. As for me, I will not be purchasing. YMMV BTW - both of the accounts that dogged him are now gone. One I banned and the other deleted his account. |

Some of these guys, unfortunately, just start to believe a little too much in the myth of their own infallibility. Part of the problem is that the fanboi tendencies of some forums and/or specific customer bases reinforce that sort of attitude among representatives/owners of these companies.
Pulsar Modular. Acustica. UAD. They all have fanboi problems, in a self reinforcing feedback loop with the company owner/representative. There are others too, but these three come to mind.
But I'll still probably buy the P455 plugin.

I always forget which one is the Pulsar with the good plugins and the one with the gimmicky stuff. The good one makes the Mu and the 1178 compressors; that's how I remember.

Like, I run an investment portfolio as my day job, if I reached out to a potential client (in a private conversation) and they didn’t want to work with me because they thought my firm was insignificant, I wouldn’t disclose that (or why) to my other clients…some folks don’t wanna work with me for a variety of reasons and that’s okay. Now if you got back to him and asked if he’d be okay with you posting this and he agreed, then maybe it’d be okay…but even then, really what’s the point except being spiteful? He didn’t email all his customers and slam RGO, so why would you do that to him? Okay, he doesn’t like RGO for whatever reason, it’s not right for you to negatively impact his business (which you are doing with this post, because people look up to you here)…and beyond that it could be a legal issue for RGO. Seeing as RGO is a business with advertisers…maybe they see this and become concerned that they may be called out if they ever don’t agree with you on something…or maybe they’re friends with Ziad (it’s a small world in this business). Not trying to stir up shit, but we should speak our minds when something feels wrong. Won’t read or respond to anything that comes from this post, but I feel it needs to be said by someone. I came to RGO because it was a kinder (and thus more productive) environment than GS, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like this on GS (could be wrong). Even if I miss out on a great deal of useful information from not being welcome here, I’ve said my piece when it should be said and I’m good with that.
