It is the same Paul. It even has the same weird screws that the GAP has/had on the plastic intervals. I'm not sure why you bash the GAP though. I had an original side by side at my place and it was spot on, cosmetically. The only thing that wasn't a 100% Match was the headgrill, still looked good. And to be clear, I'm not saying that Beeznez/Ben has been dishonest or anything like that. I think you should be smart when you source certain parts. It's still the sum of all parts that makes the mic. The GAP 251 is a fantastic sounding looking microphone. Along side mics x3 the price it is right in the pack with the best of them, which the better ones are absolutely not the most expensive of them. Bo deserves respect and appreciation for what he achieved with his 251's, while some of these ultra boutique priced ones should be ashamed of what they get away with. I'm 100% with you on the GAP 251 series Chris I had the GAP’s from Bo and as nice as he is they don’t sound great. This mic is half the price and much better where it counts. I’ve been experiencing it over the weekend and it is a fantastic microphone, great build, classic AKG PSU look, top quality components, a NOS tube and a solid metal body. The capsule to me is the the most accurate available I have used and it has a hefty toroidal transformer instead of a T14 so there is more extension in both directions. It isn’t completely made in a Chinese factory it is hand made in the places it counts, like the most important element, the capsule, it’s not faked or hyped, it’s supreme. You can access the inside for servicing very easily as it just takes a regular cross head screw driver. When I get a singer in I’ll demo it. It’s a great colour and the new badge works very well. It’s better than a TFunk for a quarter of the price. I love the fact that Ben can prove that we are being ripped off by most companies and make mics that sound much better for a fraction of the price. mics this is a great microphone and you and your team should be very proud. I for one am a proud owner. Attachments:

I for one am a proud owner. I have the GAPmkII,it's an absolutely wonderful sounding microphone. I did have to send the 1st one back but the replacement received met or exceeded expectations. At the time of purchase, I had 3 251 replica's one being the T funk and I flogged them all, kept the GAP, just going off my ears and I'm still quite happy with my decision. Freed up some cash and have what I want from a 251 style microphone. I could nit pick any mic and talk myself out of owning it with no real effort if I'm honest. I get that we each have different perceptions and that our unique perspectives are established by these unique differences. I still agree with Christain about the GAP but in doing so, I am not making any comparison with Bens new mic, I'm certain it's also fantastic!
I will emphasise that both mics are built by fantastic human beings and that for me is a huge deciding factor when choosing who to buy what from them. I'm very fortunate, I can buy pretty much what I want/need but I factor who I buy from very heavily in my decision making. I would absolutely buy from either gentleman because I respect them each and have need want for both of their products I find are useful and have purpose in my small world. I have 2 BN'sand like them very much. My GAP MKII is a splendid microphone I love using and clients are really happy with the sound of as well. The 1st one didn't sound great but the one I have now is really a wonderful sounding microphone in spite of the price or regardless of the price. One day I hope I can at least demo or try out the BN251 and hopefully also celebrate the great sound right alongside you dude!
Be well all

Last comment since this isn't really about the GAP. Here is some pictures I took when we did an a/b against a vintage Ela M251. You can see the capsule differs and also the headgrill otherwise they're really close. The color is 99.9% Match, the difference you see is just the poor lit picture. To say it looks cheap is in my opinion just plain wrong. I do agree that the price is to high. Ben's look great and is priced very competitive!

The only ugly 251 I tried was the Upton and I didn't appreciate the sound or look of it at all. Ben's 251 looks beautiful and it's own unique aesthetic. The FleA to me is one of the best looking along with some of the other Euro designed offerings, of which the GAP is right up in the top of the pile, looks wise and again I think it sounds fine.
We can say only the sound matters but none of these are cheap mics and when/if resale comes up, the looks are 100% gonna be a factor. Also, comparisons are inevitable and to me it's all on topic. But I'm an enduser and buyer so perhaps that is what informs my perspective on it all How are you Christain? Been awhile since we've had a video from you or have I missed something? Awesome videos my friend, love your work!! Gene

I don't believe any of these 251's are priced competitively, they are all a serious in fashion on trend outlay of cash without exception. I think they are all priced to a very targeted audience and specific type of buyer and factoring in known and or assumed biases of buyers whether that geographical, geo-poli economic bias, or nationalistic or brand bias and preference. Some will say that "Made in blah blah" is best for many reasons, even if it's not true It's all quantifiable, we as buyers are not enigmatic or an unknown factor. I've heard mics from just about every brand where 1 or more of their individual products didn't work for me and then an exact same model but different mic sounded amazing or to expectations.AND, we each can get something we like out of just about any of these mics, or not. But they are ALL really good builds and provide us the luxurious indulgence of hair splitting to pick a brand/model that accommodates our biases and our preferences as we see fit or choose to rationalise our choices.
