I’m trying to decide whether to stay with $20 a month for spark or $100 for two plugs I use and don’t own in spark…then cancel spark. I really only need the Cap comp (or I could just go back to something else) and I guess I’d get scs…but it’s cool to have stuff like the standalone Leslie and Rhoades…neither of which I never use but would immediately need them once iI canceled the sub. Lol Wish I had a coupon. You get all that and more in the Signature bundle that Ragan got, currently on sale. www.uaudio.com/uad-plugins/plug-in-bundles/uad-signature-edition.html

I did a quick comparison with this vs Inspirata and so far it's like night and day. Sound City sounds like a successor to the other UAD reverbs like Hitsville, Ocean Way, and Capitol. I'll have to try it some more. But Inspirata just sounds so unique and is so versatile that I'm not sure there's much I could do with Sound City to get close to that level of quality. Softube Atlantis is another plugin I would rank as being in the top of its class too. I'm using that as a vocal reverb in conjunction with Inspirata.

Really, the only ones that I don't own that I might use occasionally/slight interest are the Distressor, Cap Comp and maybe SCS. My initial idea about getting spark for the native plugs was so I could run some of those plugs in native real time with Tonex. But I bought an AxeFX again... The only unison plug I ever really use going in is the Ampeg SVT...never use the pres. In fact, I should probably sell the x6 and get an older 16.

I just fired up the “Lite” version that I got free sometime. It doesn’t support 88.2 lol.

To mix threads here, that's exactly why I sold my x8 and x4. I wasn't using the pres and I realized I could get conversion for way cheaper by not paying for stuff I'm never using. I actually did it for the same reasons you were considering on the other thread... traded my x8 and x4 out for 32 channels of MOTU I/O and an RND Orbit for summing. No regrets.

I do like the (near) no latency and being able to route verb to cue...maybe all of them have some level of that now. IDK. But I'd have to buy a Quad satellite to replace...and my guess is whatever I got would be vastly more expensive than what I'm selling.

The professional has the deepest options and those options are definitely useful for rock-based music outside of the symphonic stuff they talk about using it for. I did the math in the Black Friday thread, I think. It's about $169 or $199 with the discount. In August it was half off of $600 something and I paid something like $360. Less than two weeks later they had all editions for $99. So, I wrote them to see if they'd offer some kinda rebate since I just paid several times more than that and I heard nothing back. It could go down to $99 again, but no guarantees. Just saying not to be surprised if they pull this stunt again. www.inspiredacoustics.com/en/products/inspirata-workstation/buy

I did have to buy a Satellite but they're pretty cheap on the used market relatively speaking. I guess it depends on how high end you go on the converters. I decided that the MOTU converters were enough for me if it meant I also was able to sum OTB with an Orbit -> SilverBullet. It was pretty much a wash cost wise (I already owned the SB). And actually I liked the MOTU converter sound better than the UA sound anyway which was a surprise, even without the summing. Go figure.

I had Altiverb back in the day, seems like a modern version of that. I’d consider it at $99, but not going to invest time chasing erratic pricing.

This is the one I’ve got, that (apparently) can’t run at higher samples rates (I’m at 88.2).

ahh did not catch that limitation but I will accept it for a freebie it looks like the upgrade to personal edition gets the higher sample rates working
edit: sale code BFRI on the IA website drops the upgrade to Personal edition from $119 to $49

I'd love to try the Sound City plug again, but for the second time since I've had spark, I'm getting "Plug-in not Licensed" when I open. Now - I used it yesterday, so maybe you can only use it Tuesday through Sunday. (eyeroll emoji here). I've never had trouble with UAD...until the native plugs. I dread talking to UA support because they had zero idea last time, and it just started working after an uninstall of something this or that. But I'll sell this shit before I have to uninstall/reinstall trash blah blah. Just effing work.

Just went to demo and realized this is native only?!!!! WTF?!!
Why not make it available to use on the damn cards we all have?!

Here is a tune I am working on... nearly done its my first use of Sound City.... I used it as the "room" for the tracks.... put it on a bus in reverb mode...and adjusted it to taste.. There is a Bricasti as a plate verb, there is also a spring reverb (BX20) on some of the guitars.... The song is long....but that's on purpose atm.... cheers Wiz Forty Years Sound City Test

What could you have regrets for, anyway? For upgrading? Kind of "downgrading" conversion from UA to MOTU in return for "upgrading" to an out of the box summing setup. The reality is that neither of them are upgrades or downgrades, just different.

Just went to demo and realized this is native only?!!!! WTF?!! Why not make it available to use on the damn cards we all have?! UAD answer on the other forum is as lame as lame gets. To paraphrase "we envision this as a mixing tool, you're welcome to use one of the MANY reverbs we have with DSP support designed for tracking." I'm sure dealing with people on the Purple Site sucks, but UAD is the only one I see with consistently snarky replies like that.

Man...IDK, it's kinda useless to me doing the genre I do. Maybe rock would make this more useful.

It doesn’t immediately strike me as a reverb. Nice tune and singing.
