But, at least SB is a very good example of a plug that brings something new and value add, not just your 29th reverb plug in.

I just bought The Farm stone drum room plugin by IK. Been eyeing it up but $80 seemed a bit steep - it’s on sale for $30 Sounds great with the Collins kit in the Hit Maker SDX if you want the big Collins drum sound. Fun plugin. IK makes you install a ton of stuff to use, right? just confirming before passing on this.

After a couple of sales, what plugs do we really need: very few, if any. I certainly don't NEED LTL Silver Bullet, but I was hoping to pick it up by EOY. PA just discounted it $100 for $250, which is still way too rich for my blood. And so, my humble recordings will do without! Maybe next year... I will say, it really is that good! I snagged a forever 29 coupon for cheap ($45ish) right when it came out. but i think i'd still drop $250 on it. It lives on my mix bus. It feels like I'm mixing thru a console again. And I now badly want a hardware one.

NO coupon. Strangely enough - when I pushed it through to the credit card stage ..it came up with a total with tax (not itemized) of 140.24.
Checking the "I have a coupon" box just prompts me for a code that I don't have.

Waves (gasp) has been running weekly $19.99 specials this month, and you can get those down to $17.~~ at plug-in discounts. I finally picked up MV2 last week for that price. Funny you guys mentioned MV2...I just bought last week for $29. It really is a cool comp with the upwards compression. What would it add to an already very full software and hardware compressor collection? Is it special and a bit different? Vocals - bass? Thanks

(well not all but some do) UAD Fabfilter You seem to get the lot and then just activate what you've bought - I have a big OS drive so I've not noticed it being an issue and I avoided installing their shop thingy. Just be careful when installing and avoid as much as you can. I use their Hammond Organ Sunset Reverb Farm Reverb .... and a couple of other things and they're great plugins so I'm happy to go with the flow.

I think I did my part to stimulate the plug-in industry this year. Would still look at a character eq, whatever that means, and a Helios channel strip.
Cheers, Geoff

You don’t have to install things you don’t own with UAD or FF. At least it haven’t had to (not counting like 10 years ago when UAD used to make you).

But ua forces you for uad2, to download one big file/authorization snd you always see all those plugs, unless you create your own folders, like in logic. The plug in cleaner strips out all the un purchased ua plugs.

For native it’s just the Connect app, where you select what you want to install from what’s in your account.

Seems like it helps a vocal like vocal rider (basically kind of what it is)...same for bass. I usually run it kind of conservatively on both, then follow with a character comp.

So, uad2 users still have the big omnibus authorization file to deal with.

Rhodes has released a free (for a limited time) auto-panner that replicates the effect in the real deal, but I’ve read that a bloatware installer is required and it takes up 5 GB (!) of hard drive space. For an auto-panning effect.
