I forgot to mention that I did end up buying it last week. Once I'd actually used it on a client delivery mix, I wanted to support BradM and I knew I'd want to use it again on future mixes.

The SB is great on virtual instruments. It takes some of that "Digital" edge off. So, to have one on mix buss, and have more available for stems is awesome news!

I spent about 5 minutes with the plugin on master bus for a rough mix and it definitely blew my hair back.
Possibly an unpopular opinion: the best plugins have great presets. You might say it’s cheating, but for me it’s learning from other engineers remotely. (When done well). Very excited to dig in deeper there. And yes, of course I still tweak to taste. In this case one of the good Doctor’s presets really got me close rather quickly. So cool.
In related news, I used my Mk. 1 on guitar overdubs yesterday as well and that went swimmingly. Feeling pretty dang lucky to have these tools at my disposal!

Anyone else have issues with this plug? I love it and it has lived on my mix bus since I got it. but I have gotten some dropouts on a bigger mix (and as well as when I just had two instances running on a simple mix). My processor load meter is barely hitting 50% and my comp is no slouch. Buffer set as high as it will go.

If you’re still on Cubase, this is almost certainly a daw issue and not a computer or plugin issue. One core is probably being overloaded. Cubase has major issues utilizing multicore, multithreaded CPUs. Reaper and now Pro Tools will just sprawl across your cpu until your session gives out. Logic too but it will give out sooner because it doesn’t use the efficiency cores of Apple silicon chips.

I do still use Cubase but I have literally never had a problem before unless I actually overloaded the processor (according to the meter at least). It had me thinking I had a bad patch cable or something but no. Oddly, shrinking my buffer actually fixed my problem. Track count is high on this project but not as crazy as others.

I think I’ll wait until the PIA discount season to check it. I need to buy a real hardware mk2 first.

It’s interesting…I tried this on a spoken word vocal. It was a little much 😅 I wasn’t expecting it to work for that purpose.
But then I used it on the 2 bus for the theme music for said spoken word project, (N>A, Hitmaker, Tight, Vintage, Aspect Ratio) and it made everything pop. I’ve noticed that it does that consistently on full range mixes,

Been off the forums for a while working on some projects. But just wanted to say that this plugin is really great, especially for quick roughs. And (as I might have said earlier) the CPU load is low enough that I've been able to track with the plugin instantiated with no noticeable latency boost.
I think sometimes people get nervous buying software from a hardware company (I know I do), but whatever LTL did here is clearly very clean tech. Good stuff.

I made the plunge a bit early and missed the special Black Friday price. Oh well, no biggie.
I haven’t really had the chance to play with it yet. Gotta stop buying crap and get down to making some music.
Cheers, Geoff

Really loving the "C" hitmaker module on this 6 song EP I'm mixing and mastering. It has a way of focusing the upper mids, adding a little edge where needed. I find myself dialing in the drive and then backing the mix off to 50-60%. Really strong stuff digital or otherwise. Also great bait for MK1 hardware owners, like myself.

And aspect ratio. Quick aspect ratio story. I had played a rough mix for my wife of something I was working on, it was just the down and dirty mix from the studio. After promptly overprocessing it and destroying all the vibe from the rough my wife is like "yeah, it just sounded cooler before." So I'm taking everything off, everything I can think of. "Still sounded cooler, I don't know why." I'm going crazy. There is NO DIFFERENCE. She's insane. Then I remembered that I had an instance of SB plugin on the master bus on the rough with literally nothing on it but Aspect Ratio enabled. No way, I'm thinking. But sure enough... I put that back on the mix and played it for her and she goes... "There it is! That's what was missing." Summary, Silver Bullet plugin makes wives happy. Happy wife, happy life.

I love this plugin. But finding it hard to run more than a few instances. Pretty taxing CPU plugin.

I'm on PC and have a session with like 5(plus don't get me wrong a lot of other stuff) but it was running fine on my machine before that. Disabled one and I can run it at 256 buffer now.

I added the SB plugin as the final step on the lead vocal bus for a vocal with delay and reverb that I wanted to sound even bigger and wider. All gain stages + aspect ratio…it worked
