Just now trying this on a drum bus. I'm really impressed. I would use it in the chain where I would normally put Waves Magma. Magma seems to do a similar thing, but SB has more tweaks and control. Might have to spring for this. The plug might be the answer for me. Love to hear the real thing, but if I know me and with the material I do most of the time, convenience and recall are high priority. That's what makes the plugin fun for me, I can use it all over and save settings. My HW SB tends to stay set exactly the same and I mix into it, which to me does have benefits but it's also fun to experiment. Plus I love the MK2 goodies. |

I have a hardware Silver Bullet MkI, and just installed the demo of the plugin maybe an hour ago - so I have very, very little time with it so far. I just needed to take someone else's mix that was done with VIs and make it sound more alive. I'll be damned, but between this plugin and the Metric Halo Sontec plugin, it actually freaking worked. I'm shocked at how much impact the SB plug had. Even with as little time as I've had, I can already say that the plugin sounds a hell of a lot like the hardware to me. More to come in the days ahead, but so far, I'm really happy with what the plug is doing. Thanks so much, BradM and drbill ! Oh, and my hardware still isn't going anywhere. |

Much appreciated. I've had the good fortune to have 8 hardware Silver Bullets and 6 Chroma's here for production, but most aren't as fortunate. Then, there's a TON of people who NEVER use a piece of hardware for production / mixing so we wanted them to be able to have the (IMO) great workflow and sonics that a Silver Bullet provides. So....plugin time. . Even with 8, I'm still using the plugin as well. It just helps out so much. BTW, look earlier in this thread for an application tip on how to turn your mk1 into a mk2 using the plugin and hardware together. Have fun with it guys!! |

Are you listening @locomotive Audio ?? Very cool! What kind of control do you have over compression parameters? Control is on the board itself, and fairly comprehensive. It is meant to be essentially a set and forget type of compressor, with a drive and "wet/dry mix" on the front panel. Once you get your settings, it can be controlled via front panels. Essentially, for me, my Manley Vari-Mu rarely gets changed other than input levels. So this format can work well for me. For others, it may not be the answer, but I'm super glad to get some tube love INSIDE the Silver Bullet. BTW, as a side note, the compressor circuit can be bypassed and you can use it as tube saturation as well. |

The real question is when does that come to the plugin version? why not just buy mjuc for under 30 bucks? Keep hq on always. It’s a better investment than the silver bullet for 100-300. |
