It’s frankly, silly, not to buy it for $30 ! I bought it at full price (or intro price - whatever...) the week it came out. No regrets even at that price. It's a very, very good sounding plugin. One of the best in my arsenal.

Tried it briefly, seemed pretty cool and useful, though not yet sure what it’s bringing that I don’t already have in 20x other plug-ins. But, lots of you who have spent a lot more time with it than I have seem to love it, so I bought it.

That’s kind’ve been my question too. What is this doing that I can’t do with a 1073 or API channel strip?

That’s kind’ve been my question too. What is this doing that I can’t do with a 1073 or API channel strip? Aspect Ratio button is amazing. No idea how it works but it widens the soundstage without ever making things sound fake or phasey. The dual gainstaging is very convenient in one plugin. And the various color modules (I mentioned the VHS one, but there are a few others) included in the plugin version are quite unique. Almost a Vulf Compressor feel but without the compressor (I love the Vulf, it's a problem). I'm sure there are other things that make this different than just stacking other plugins, but those are the ones that come to mind in my use.

I felt I likely didn't need this but grabbed it on sale a while back. I'm still unsure how much I'll use it but if I ever don't have access to my hardware 2-buss chain it's almost certainly getting used there (likely along with Satin & SDRR). So far it's only been on groups and it's a wonderful finisher there.
I think its workflow is really good, sounds great and can do a lot on its own - saturation, EQ for sure.
People seem to love the Aspect button but I'm not sure how much I'll use it. It's rare I feel I need more width than I can get with panning/EQ but I haven't mixed into it yet. I agree it does what it does without the usual phase mangling so what it does it seems to do well.

Does it work with Mac OSX Sonoma? On the website at LTL says up to OSX Ventura.

For the plugin it's worth the price alone just for whatever magic is happening when you click the widening button (can't remember what it's called). but may buy perpetual anyway to support LTL and because it's used on every single mix, I'd hate to lose it. Aspect Ratio!! <<thumbsup>> Thanks. We appreciate it as we (Brad) are still trying to recoup development costs!!

That’s kind’ve been my question too. What is this doing that I can’t do with a 1073 or API channel strip? Elegance and speed and a holistic approach. The same reason I/we created he hardware over constantly using API and Neve variants chained together on the mix buss along with a wonderful program EQ - 15 years ago.

The SB is so much more than just a Neve or api sound.
with 3-5 plug ins, you could certainly emulate what the SB does, but you still don’t have its presets or other features.

with 3-5 plug ins, you could certainly emulate what the SB does Emulate? Yeah, probably. Re-create? I don't think so. Being involved in the creation of the hardware, then the modeling of the software over the last 10 years, I think the SB still stands as one of the more unique products in the pro audio world - both in hardware and plugin form.

I was responding to John kenn’s comment, meaning comparing to the silver bullet plug in.

Yeah it's the same with everything. You can get a similar effect. You're not going to get how the thing sounds without the circuit itself or the circuit model itself.
Some other plugins are so basic you can perfectly emulate them others like inflator, orange clip, parts of the phoenix ii, and often do so cleaner than their early distortion algorithm code.

I had never really thought to use the physical unit as a heavy saturation box because it's patched into my two bus chain. I'd love to take the MKII and put it on my two bus (for the aspect ratio) and move my MK1 to utility duties like heavy saturation or whatever on a mix by mix basis.

Just bought it for $30. I hate to sound this way in a market that has almost become a parody of itself, but this thing sounds absolutely great. So many features. Just great tones and options available. A real standout for me already.

What's different about it for me is just that I like how it sounds better than most of my other saturation N or A plugins. So many of the others for me are kind of a caricature of the N sound particularly. I've never tried the UA Neve collection (bc I don't have UA hardware), so maybe it sounds just as good, I don't know. The SB plugin on N mode sounds as good as Acustica Gold to me in terms of flavor, but it's a joy to use instead of a pain in the ass. And the EQ in the SB plugin also sounds really, really good to me. It just sounds like Brad really took his time to get it right. It sounds more like hardware than the vaaaaaaast majority of plugins purporting to be hardware emulations. To my ear, anyway.

Same for me, bought yesterday on the LTL website. I will be able to give it a place on my master bus with the P455 and Nfuse. The world of plugins is really great these days... And dangerous at the same time (for my wallet). drbill, will the new Mojo modules be ported to the plugin?

drbill , will the new Mojo modules be ported to the plugin? It's mostly a bug fix and noise option update, but there will be one surprise.
