I pre-ordered a Stam SA4000-5 MKII, SSL bus compressor clone back on June 5th. The projected release date was July. Then it got moved to August. I'm getting anxious. I hope they don't push it back again. Still waiting................

Did you write to them? I ordered a pair of 87 tube mics and their communication from beginning to end has been fantastic.

Why not email them?

If they're answering emails they're not making devices. They need to be working so I can get my new stuff.

Why not just buy things that are pre-made, able to be mass and constantly produced by the manufacturer because that’s all they make, and well-serviced worldwide? You could buy a smart c2 any day, get it overnighted, and have something cleaner than any SSL G bus clone. Or the API 2500 or the Dangerous Compressor that are totally different but so is a Smart C2. Don’t be a lemming.
Or learn to solder and build your own gssl turbo clone or the diyre clone before Stam even ships it.

I have already made a deposit. I can solder quite well so if it takes a long time I might get my deposit back and do that.

Heck I waited over 2 years for mine when they were first released.
You’ll get it in time.

The one I ordered was the 500 series model. Supposedly Stam doesn't have the long wait times anymore like they did when they were starting up.

They sent me a mail, my mk3 with Fairchild mod should be sent this week or the next. Expect your module soon. IIRC They disclosed the 4K mK3 and the rack500 tube mk2 at the same time. The wait is almost over I think !!

They never released the SSL EQ they said they were going to do. But they did say they’d be happy to keep my money in case they ever did put it out.

I’m trying not to be an ass, but this is the Achilles heal of STAMS way of doing business. Anyone who has spent anytime on the internet (where else does one hear about Stam) should know that a long wait time as a given. All of the budget Cloners have a weakness as far as their buisness model of choice, the fact is you get what you paid for, I do sympathize, but the general thought of “ this time it’s going to be different”

There's more than enough info all over the place online, this is par for course and will probably always be how Stam operates. Great stuff, well built, you'll get it eventually. That eventually might be a lot longer than you ever thought. Sorry, wait longer or get your money back. One of the reasons I still havn't bought anything from them...

It has been true in past, but recently Josh indicated they have all the parts for a current order, different product and build schedule is much more timely. Hope that becomes the norm.

My first Stam purchase was the SA47 mkii. Bought it used at a great price from Seawell - no wait time and I was even able to try it out first!! I was kind of blown away by the mic and decided to try the SA87T when that was announced. Deposit made at the beginning of Feb, balance paid in full at the end of the month and I received the mic a full 30 days later. I did start emailing when 30 days approached and this seemed to help. All-in-all, two months waiting wasn’t too bad given some of the horror stories I’d read about. My latest SA67 purchase was probably the most frustrating new-gear acquisition I’ve ever experienced, and I’m questioning whether or not I would want to put myself though that again. I will say that after getting a healthy version of the mic I am really happy with it, and the bad times don’t seem so bad considering how much Neumann $ I’ve saved.

I haven't heard of any delays from Stam for a long time now. I believe they have solved their wait time issues. This sounds like an anomaly to me and not a same old-same old thing. I'd send them an email. They have a lot of people working at Stam, sending an email is not bugging them. They're usually happy to help expedite things whenever possible.

All of the budget Cloners have a weakness as far as their buisness model of choice, the fact is you get what you paid for, I do sympathize, but the general thought of “ this time it’s going to be different” You are not being one at all and it's no secret but a long wait time is not a given. I ship units within 1 or 2 working days every month. It depends on the model. Almost nobody is going to make a post about getting their unit in time while many who are not so lucky and face multiple and extended delays will rightfully voice their dissatisfaction. In summary, it depends on the unit. You can get something the next day from us (we have some mics and 500 series units in stock right now) and there are also people who have had to wait 3 years or more for a piece, this is something we are not proud off and have gradually reduced waiting times but it takes time to make all of these changes. We will keep the pre-order system running, it's beneficial for our clients as they save money and for us to know what to make and how many, the problem and solution is meeting the deadline agreed when you reserve something. One step forward we have done on the latest releases is buying all parts ahead of time as we know roughly how many will sell and that will allow us to be more accurate with delivery times. We have also moved to a new location this month which allowed us to store more of these parts and hire more people to build more units and have a faster turnaround. Hopefully these changes will be reflected on our service this year.

Guess, this will happen real time, curious to see how it plays out!

I have to agree. It was a rocky road for a while, but things have REALLY turned around lately . . . and the other impressive thing is that Josh has also been innovating in the development of some clones, adding a lot of "what if they did this?" to the designs which is intriguing. The SA 76 + series is the prime example of this. It was a bit shaky at the beginning, but you can't knock the quality for the most part. I have been really hard on Stam™ at times, but have been encouraged lately.

I have to say that I had a recent order of two mics and Josh was great at communicating and so was his staff. And they shipped right away and got here in SLC, UT super fast. I was shocked at how fast.
