I went from indifferent to passionate about Stam. This was down to 2 things. Josh’s communication with his customers and the quality and originality of the gear. It’s pretty much my favourite gear collectively now. I love it!

I ordered a mic a few weeks ago (I was told it was in stock and could ship in a few days…which was partly why I pulled the trigger) Almost 3 weeks and no mic. I’m not ‘trippin’ about it but I really DO need it lol, and may end up buying something else and canceling the order. Perhaps I’ll try doing biz with them again in the future when time isn’t ‘of the essence’ but yeah they kinda jacked me up a bit on this (as I have an artist to record and NO mic )

I have the feeling that 'not being able to keep up with demand' these days is a lot more common than we all realize.
And when you spend hours out of every day trying to track down components, it isn't hard to run out of steam and just crash with 100+ unanswered emails.

You and I have had a number of conversations over the years about this issue, the bottom line is simply this as good as growth is for the bottom line. The mechanics suck.

When you think about the sheer quantity of BS Avid and Apple (for example) have doled out over the years it seems fair to cut STAM some slack and see if the move improves things for them. I really like the look of some of the STAM kit, but I personally don't have the degree of patience necessary so I've bought Retro, BAE, Thermionic, Audioscape, to date. I'll keep an eye on their progress.

A little background on me and Stam that might explain our "rocky road" as Ward said if you allow me. No need for the full quote, but if you made this post years ago, you would have had a lot more of my money in your pockets. Probably would have had a studio full of Stam gear by now. Glad things have (mostly) turned around at this point. Hope you continue on this path.

Same old story from the start. “Keeping up with demand” Nothings changed. ”new premises” , not enough staff, shortage of parts, covid19, freighting problems etc etc It will always be something with Stam. you just have to keep emailing him. If you are the squeaky wheel via email and on public forums you tend to get your gear quicker. i have never had an ontime or even close to ontime delivery with Stam. And in the end i have usually upgraded the product . this after about 10 x different pieces of gear over the years. there are other boutique audio manufactrers i chose to spend and ultimately invest my hard earned dollars with. But there is no doubt that his products (when in hand) are great value for money and obviously suit people who are way more patient and tolerant then me.

Sorry if this is taking things off topic - but has anyone had any luck with repair in the US? Haven’t heard back from Stam and have an 1176 ADG that’s in dire need of some TLC.
A + D just completely stopped working (this was during the pandemic) and G still works but the noise floor has gotten to the point where it’s unusable.
It’s a shame cause the thing sounds so damn good. Was wondering if any of you have any suggestions. There’s a local electronics repair in town I was thinking of taking it to - but not sure if that’s the best route.

Stam had US techs, I had great service a few year’s ago. So, you wrote to stem and they didn’t identify a US tech ?

He won't supply schematics, if needed by a tech. I had to de-engineer the 1073MPA so I could fix it on my own. I'm not very impressed but on the other hand Daking doesn't give schematics either. John Hardy does give all the technical documents to fix his stuff. Good guy.

There are a few boutique gear builders I know of who have no problem fixing anything that goes wrong. All on your own dime, though. Where are you located, approximately?

I tried reaching out to these guys first - but haven’t been able to get a hold of them. I know Joshua is moving the Stam offices so I understand the lapse in communication. Just wondering if any of you folks have run into this. I’m located on the East Coast / Mid Atlantic region. I don’t mind paying (within reason). My biggest concern is that this circuit is an odd one and might be difficult for just anyone to work on.

We have four techs in the US (Texas, Tampa, Nashville and CT) but the only qualified person in the US to fix an ADG is Jeff at this time. It’s an extremely complex machine and took several years of development. Schematics are sensible on these units as they are “original” designs. Jeff has a fixed rate for our clients which is priced friendly. If it’s less than 2 years old the repair is on me. I look forward to helping you

It's now October so I emailed them to find out when. They told me it is projected for October. Okay, what about when the website said it would be July, then August, then September??? Now it says October. I'm not holding my breath. If it doesn't arrive this month I'm getting my deposit back. I know a guy that has a 2023 model for sale for less than what Stam is charging. I'd be stupid to pass that up if it's not shipping. I also won't have to pay shipping charges from Chile. It had better happen this month or I'm done. The only reason I'll wait that long is for the warranty.

Realise that Stam for whatever reason does not deliver the majority of his products on time. 3. Understand that Stams business model is not considered legal in Western Countries, hnece you will neeed to be flexible. 4. Stam eventually does have the intent to honour his committments. We have all witnessed Stam giving refunds and/or when customers issues are publically aired on forums, he does step in to make it right. Stam is not there to rip people off. 5. His business model does not suit everybody. If its causing you stress get out get your money back and move on dont look back. 6. But you will still need to be patient and send multiple emails to get ypur refund, but it will happen. 7. Most importantly for anyone buying from Stam you have to adjust your expectations on how you think this transaction will work. Once that happens the process is not as painful for you. i hope this helps. PS: Stam also rewards via free and discounted products those that push/promote/encourage the use of his products both in reviews and online forums like this one. This business practise seems to more common then it use to be by manufacturers. Personally i am very cautious of any product i buy that is predicated on an online review. Most of Stams products i have bought have been satisafactory although currently i own zero of his products.

I had no problems with getting a refund for cancelled orders nor a problem with returning a product. I agree people shouldn’t be expecting business as usual: eyes wide open!

I've bought two products from Stam Audio. I returned one, and that took awhile to complete. However, eventually it all worked-out and I have no complaints. Returns no longer go to Chile as they've setup service and return locations in several parts of the US.
Patience is required in some cases.
I would certainly purchase more, if interested.
