IMHO another 251 right up there... Is Tommy James' personal 251, used on all his Roulette and Solo hits (After "Hanky Panky") Nice to have a great male voice as reference too! Chris Who owns the Crimson and Clover special now? AFAIK Tommy still has it. I may be contacting him pretty soon anyway. The guy who helped save my life last May 2022... Went to school with a son, of the infamous Morris Levy. Who was like Tommy's Uncle effectively... And saved Tommy's life at least once. Owner of Roulette and basis for Hesh/Sopranos. Like Hesh, he sometimes advised the Genovese's. Chris

Think his best was Chrystal Blue Persuasion. I completely agree, brother! We covered that for a movie, I’d never heard it as I’d only heard his break beats but it’s a 60’s psych beauty.

If Tommy didn't have unlimited Studio time, like Roulette gave him...
He totally believes they never could have recorded that. That way. Chris

Some of these mics sound NOTHING like a 251. The original T-Funk sounds like an average OG Telefunken from 1960 - good but not spectacular like 'Dolly' The Heiserman Flea and Upton all have the pleasant midrange character one expects. And like crillemannen Christian pointed out, the distortion is usually in the mid.s. if it is in the top end, it sounds very sibilant like a cheap chinesium capsule, and that isn't very warm. If the distortion is in the lower mid to bass, it sounds woofy and fuzzy which isn't very golden at all. JMHO, YMMV. Between you and me, my Upton and H47 sounded almost identical. In fact, I had a test session with the same vocal pass with the H47 and Upton…Did the same pass with the Soyuz, and I definitely preferred it on my vocal.

IIRC "Woofy" and "Fuzzy" were two of the Seven Dwarves Ward. I'm trying to remember the names of the other four. EDIT: Oh yeah.... Lispy/Wimpy/Cheapie/Boomer. There's all Seven. Good thing I'm a Math Tudor. English two. Chris

I thought I said Fizzy . . . but Fuzzy was probably his twin brother.

It sounds much better than a 251 clone to me. So much more classy with the way it cuts through. Unlike most modern mics.

Thank you.

The Soyuz has a more vintage sound to it between a 67 and a 47.

Yup. Months ago. (hence this thread.... ). Loving even more than initially. Great microphone. A must have for me. It's interesting now that we have a few shootouts of the usual suspects. Especially the VK shootout. Turned out, I loved the H251 on that shootout too. Reinforces my decision to go Heiserman.

Glad to hear it's working out great! I placed an order back in May, I've had some contact with Heiserman regarding progress, but no shipment has been made yet. I just wanted to see if others have received theirs who maybe don't know the manufacturer personally?

80hz - Since I first heard rumblings about the H251 I've been waiting. I can't remember how long it took, but I think at least a couple years before the "official" release happened. Tweaking, tweaking, tweaking....... Trust me, it will be worth it.

If you’re worried about whether you’re getting scammed, I wouldn’t worry about that. They’re stand up guys - just might be caught behind some supply chain issues.

No not worried about anything like that. More just curious how long the list is of people who have paid and are awaiting shipment. I was wondering if there's others in the same boat and if they've received any updates.

Been waiting quite awhile as well but Dave's been great about explaining what's going on. Nick and I both have 47 tubes but can't wait to hear what this can do.
