Yeah I have cousin who is an alum, she has had a series of decent gigs from Red Fox’s Club to the pit band for a couple of big shows. She also has had a series of husbands all who have Grammy’s.

Mine arrives tomorrow. I’ll definitely report back when I’ve had a chance to try it out. Meanwhile, ATTN: Spock — Any chance you could provide the actual time constants? I prefer knowing actual values whenever possible, and the manual only gives a vague idea. Thanks in advance! Doubt they will ever release that…pretty sure they think of it as proprietary. I’ll sign an NDA!

Got my RS660 yesterday. Only had time to do a quick test on drums. I recorded a quick loop using a mono overhead (M160) on my ‘64 Ludwig kit.
What you’ll hear in the clip is the dry loop for two bars and then the RS660 (limiting heavily) for two bars, etc. etc.
Obviously I wouldn’t slam it like this in most cases, but it sure is a cool (and familiar) sound!

Instant Ringo ! Yeah I have to admit that on slightly less aggressive settings it sounds exactly like Ringo’s drums, which is the whole reason I got this comp. I’ll post more clips as I put it to more use, if y’all are interested of course.

I'd love to hear the sonics of a subtle db or two off a vocal if you ever find the time.

Kind of reminds me of my Chandler TG Opto comps' affect on drums. I love that Chandler tone. Example of TG Opto Comp:Attachments:Raw Drums.mp3 (222.51 KB)

As expected, the 660 is much faster on the attack release than the TG Opto. (This was quick and dirty so don’t let this be the end-all-be-all example!)

Given Chandler’s attention to quality engineering and build and with respect, not certain I see tubes as any significant immediate or medium term risk? The tubes in the new units would be properly burned in, tested and likely under some warranty. Anyone buying any tube gear must accept the vulnerability of running tubes. It’s only prudent to buy spares and or have fun rolling your own and experimenting to see if you prefer the sound of another suitable tube, nos or new. Yes. Buy extra JJs while they are around.

Here’s a quick vocal clip! Both of these have a matched LUFS volume, so it’s at the very least a good demonstration of how BIG the comp sounds.
The processed clip is in COMP mode, time constant #2.

I think I hear...a little thickening with the 660 file...but it's not much. How hard was it hitting?

I think I hear...a little thickening with the 660 file...but it's not much. How hard was it hitting? This was about 5 dB. It’s exponentially more obvious if you flip back and forth in your DAW. To me it sounds like he got 6” closer to the mic (low mids) and pushed harder (upper mids).

I'm finding on vocals I'm liking Comp mode, TC 3 and input at 6, output near -2. Still compressing about 5db but sounding larger and smoother for sure.

I was just running various stuff through. Bass is next!

I’d love to hear a vocal hitting 7-10db range if anyone has the time. Thanks!
