I have to step back further on the 251 waiting list now. The hurricane from last autumn did far more damage to our home's roof than we figured . . . so the pile of cash set aside for my ELAH251 has been directed elsewhere. Insurance won't cover us. Insurance sucks. so sorry to hear this brother. Hang in there.

Any news on production runs/waiting list? I hopped on the list two months ago - so relatively late. Just trying to gauge if the wait is gonna be another month or two, or more like a year?

Glad to hear your preliminary encouraging comments! (No pressure really, by the way for the full report.) Finally got a chance to really push the 251 today. Several vocalists, SHAKER!!!, AcGtr, Dulcimer, tamb., etc.. All I can say is WOW!! @johnkenn already knows - he's heard it on world class material/singers. Just did some quick mic demos here against the H47T, and all I can say is Wow. Again.....Wow. More to come as I get a chance to pull some clips together and put my thoughts into complete sentences. Suffice it to say, Heiserman has another huge winner on their hands. I thought the H47T couldn't get any better..... Maybe it's just the honeymoon phase, but the H251 gives it a run for its money......and then some. First comment is that it just sounds more like a "record" right off the raw take than the 47 does. At least on the talent I had today. But it's spectacular to have both these mics at the same time. Really, we live in good times. More details to come.

I made the mistake of listening to a male vocal recorded with the H251. Now I can’t un-hear it 😫

SNIP TO GET TO THE POINT I thought the H47T couldn't get any better..... Maybe it's just the honeymoon phase, but the H251 gives it a run for its money......and then some. Really, we live in good times. More details to come. Yet another reason for me to get the first one once I get the big project out of the way. I find I am ALWAYS Eqing 47s and 48s to sound more like 251s anyhow. May as well just go to the source and do it right. P.S. Would it make a good microphone for a newly acquired full grand piano which sounds fabulous?

I have gone pretty much exclusively to ribbons on piano at this point.....

What are you EQing on the 47 Ward? Also, haven't tried the 251 on Piano. I have gone pretty much exclusively to ribbons on piano at this point..... The usual, to make it sound like a 251. slight low-mid carve 1.5octaves 1-2db centered at 275-300, broad bell 1-2 db centered at 2.5k Knock out some mud or wool, open up some brightness. Sometimes a notch here or there. But that's only when I want 'that' sound. And achieve a semi-reasonable facsimile thereof. But nothing sounds like a 251. Nothing. 2nd point . . . which ribbons are you using on piano, and what's your preferred recording chain? I'm about to spend a free day experimenting with a multitude of options and would love suggestions!

I made the mistake of listening to a male vocal recorded with the H251. Now I can’t un-hear it 😫 This is when you have to decide: how much do I need to spend on Bourbon to not buy it? Or is it cheaper to just buy the mic? ( hint transplants aren’t cheap and you need to quit drinking first 😎)
