I would imagine the 7 days before posting would be the time to make it - at least it's not months/years. i share your pain about communication though ; for me that's perhaps the first rule of business ; timely and concise communication. Cheers. Ross

6 days from post to receive is literally quicker than we'd get it in Australia unless sent priority. Cheers, Ross Yeah once they sent it out it was here in no time considering it was coming from Austrailia. It just took them 7 days to send it out. As responding to OtisGreying's question yes they are slow to respond and slow to ship. Here in the states we are spoiled. Most of the time when I order something I have it in 2 days, 4 days tops. So yeah pretty impressed with the speed in which my mic arrived once it actually shipped. Keep in mind this is boutique, and Ben will not have a lot of mics just sitting in inventory. Especially since this is a new release, with revisions, and the popularity/demand ramping up so quickly. I waited eight months for my Coil to ship. No knock on them…it was both a transformer supply and customer demand issue, neither of which they could control. So a week is really not slow. (And yes, it was worth the wait.) And right now I'm waiting six months for the delivery of a simple ottoman for my living room. As MW said, we’re all spoiled.

Cheers. Ross Hi guys. Nice forum you have here! So sorry if we ever seem slow with communication. We do try but as I am sure you can all appreciate, it’s heads down making mics and we don’t have the mulitliple staff to devote to full time emailing which is what it take given our daily communcations quite often running into 200+ emails. We do however update the website regularly with expected shipping times as a way to speak to the masses and remain transparent. We have sold out of the first 50 BU67 mics in a matter of weeks. We are working on the next 100 bu67 mics right now and should be shipping them within two weeks. Due to the popularity of this mic, we will be then staring our batch of 500!!!! Again, sorry if we ever don’t reach out to you every step of the way (but this can take many hours from each day), but we do pride ourselves on never needing to take money upfront for pre orders and delivering 6 - 12 months later!! At worst with us, it’s a few weeks not months or years. We have some really exciting things to share over the coming months and we hope you really love your mics!!! Cheers. Ben

How is Beesneez with response time for you guys? I’m dealing with an Ebony Baker and getting an email back is like pulling teeth. Waiting 2 weeks for tracking/shipping Info on a capsule... I reached out to them twice: once via the online contact form, and once via responding to one of their emails after the order. I never got a direct response. My question was after ordering this mic I got some kind of tracking number, but it didn't tell me anything about if the package had shipped or when to expect shipment. In any case, the mic arrived in about seven days, so no complaints and frankly impressive international shipping after dealing with Stam and Heiserman. But the lack of response might have been an issue in a more urgent situation. I'm happy with the mic so far! I also did not get a power mains cable, which surprised me, but Ben's explanation is understandable.

Okay, but when I searched the tracking number, the website couldn't give me any info whatsoever, thus I wrote you guys with questions. Usually a tracking number will say shipped/not shipped or an estimated range of days to look for a package.

In the last couple years, I've had plenty of items shipped to me that only said the label was made. Never showed it actually shipped, but in all cases, I did end up getting the items. Shippers seem to be a bit off since the pandemic hit. Maybe they are just too busy to update when items are scanned.

Usually a tracking number will say shipped/not shipped or an estimated range of days to look for a package. I also had trouble tracking my delivery with Aramex. They seem to assign different tracking numbers to the same consignment in the origin and destination countries? I had to call them up with my original reference and obtain the local tracking number. First time I’ve had to do that!

Nice mic! Got it in the mail yesterday and only had a chance to do a brief comparison with my modded MK67. Similar sounding. Noise floor on the BU67 is higher. I have an EF86 version of the BU67, so I was able to put in a Telefunken silver plate, which brought the noise floor down. Still had a bit more noise than the MK67. I’d also say the mids on my 67 were a bit less congested, but just slightly. I prefer the BU67 with the FF filter on (which I think is S2 rumble filter). I did not like the unlabeled switch, which I think is the 269 mod switch. I mean, I like what it did to the top end, but it increased the noise floor substantially.

Did you find a large difference in the gain between the two? There was a 10dB difference when I tested them here. I'm not sure which tube is in jtc111's BU67. I've got an Amperex in my MK67.

Yes, there was a gain difference. I can't remember which had more. Probably the MK67. I tried as best I could to gain match them by ear. I need to do some more in depth comparisons. Honestly, I'd love to keep the BU67 and sell the MK67, I could sure use the money right now. I wish the noise floor on the BU67 was a little less. I don't think it's going to stop anyone from making some great recordings though.

My tracking info has stayed the same for 8 days just says being sent to sorting facility. Edit: if you’re ordering from california, don’t even bother calling the Aramex Inglewood location. 3 hours wait no answer.

Hi Adam. I did reply to your message on messenger, maybe you missed it. Anyhow, the wrong setting for the psu 230 in a 115 environment won’t hurt the mic in the short term, just dont do it the other way around!!! Cheers Ben Hi guys. Nice forum you have here! Well, I've got the BU67 back in my studio and have planned a pretty good video for it. Now I just need to get it filmed. lol. I took the S2 Mod out. It definitely made the mic closer to my MKU67. The MKU67 is still a bit more open, while the BU67 has a touch deeper low end. jtc111 has the EF86 version, so I swapped the stock tube (I assume it's a Mullard. I can't read the label), and swapped in a 1959 Amperex EF86 I have here. It lightened the low end a touch and pushed the upper mids a bit for more presence. It's not necessarily more open, but I like that you could roll tubes in this version of the mic and dial it in a little bit. I will say its a little tricky for swap the tubes. The smaller body made that a little tough. Plus, the tube is kind of free floating and I had to be extra careful with all the wires and such. So keep that in mind if you decide to do that. I'm going to swap the stock tube back in for the shoot out though, so everyone can hear the mic that way BeesNeez intended.

mics Hi Ben, did you have a chance to listen to those files I sent of the noise floor of the BU67? Anxious to hear what you think. I’m sure you are busy. I’d love to find a resolution soon. I can post them here if it’s easier for you. I really need to know if there is an issue with the mic, or if the noise floor is normal.

mics Hi Ben, here is a comparison file I made, testing the BU67 against my MK67. It's just a spoken word test to compare the noise floor between the two mics. I set up the mics as close as I could. I made three test recordings, one with the BU67 in stock position, one with the BU67 in the 269 position and the last I swapped the stock EF86 tube for one of my low noise NOS Telefunken EF86 tubes, to eliminate the tube as the source of noise. For each BU67 recording, I spoke directly in between the mics for each phrase "This is the BU67" then "This is the MK67" recording both mics at the same time. I edited together all three tests into one file for ease of listening. I used a 1khz test tone from my phone to level match the preamp gain between the two mics. The preamp used was an RTZ 9762 (Neve style). Hope that made sense. Curious to know what others think. I would mainly like to know if this is an acceptable and normal noise floor on an otherwise fantastic mic? I'm sure it goes without saying, but this is a critical listening test. Headphones or studio monitors please. drive.google.com/file/d/1ef7ZrFY6hG-YFlZfrPlrYTxFJwRHMK5T/view?usp=sharingAttachments:

I am 90% certain that is an Amperex EF86, which I presently have in mind and gives my U67 a sheen not unlike a M269

Do yourself an enormous favor and get an old 1960 Telefunken EF806s (small s, that is critical) - Made my Neumann U67RI sound like the vintage units I have loved. The difference over a regular EF86 is astounding, if you want that sound. And as just mentioned above, the Amperex EF86 from the late 60s (mine are from 1967) are just superb for finished glassy tone, like an M269

Hi there. I do agree that you have some noise there. it isn't a lot of noise but it is there. Have you tried the tube from your mk67 in the bu67 (assuming the pinout is correct) as this will help determine the source of the noise. also just checking your psi is switched to the 115v setting as the lowered filament voltage would also cause noise and cathode degredation. keen to know your findings. thanks ben mics Hi Ben, here is a comparison file I made, testing the BU67 against my MK67. Clearly, the BN is noisier regardless of tube. Its noise level actually seemed quite constant.
Just short clips, but that also doesn’t sound like a bad tube, which I typically find has inconsistent noise issues, crackles etc..
The steady level and freq of the noise suggests a circuit problem?
I don’t think its rf, but if you had cables with same pin out, be interesting to swap them?
Something seems amiss, perhaps just a malfunctioning parts, lots of them with psu and mike.
Good luck, sure Ben will get it sorted!

However, it was previously used incorrectly for a period of time, with the PSU set to 220V. Thoughts?

Curious, as you have 115-120 v in the wall, would the psu just run the actual voltage as it doesn’t see 220v ?

Curious, as you have 115-120 v in the wall, would the psu just run the actual voltage as it doesn’t see 220v ? If the supply was a high frequency self switching supply but ours is not. it 120-0-120 toroid that runs the primary in series or parallel depending on the switch. that means that if you have it switched to 230v whilst using it in the USA, it will only see half the needed voltage. your tube will starve. thanks. ben
