What were you at the infamous lecture where I was asked how do use EQ and I answered β I close my eyes and turn the knobs till it sounds right!βπ Yeah, that will really piss people off. And then there's the 'do the opposite' method. Where you boost until you find the offending frequency to cut. Few people understand that one!

Everybody wants this to be paint by numbers and really hate the fact we get paid to listen an adapt.

Yes like pot dealers before medical / legal weed, there was once Upon a time a place and time where audio professionals actually got paid. Of course we also had to walk 3 miles in the snow uphill both ways to and from the studio. Imagine, audio once paid better than Burger King and the studios sounded better than the BK olayland.

Oh, the black market is alive and well, my friend. Stronger and stranger than ever.

My mastering buddy got his Terry CEQ (in black). I haven't been down to see and hear it yet but he's loving it.

I had to join this forum just to chime into this thread. On paper, pretty unique device, all of the demos I heard sound pretty awesome, I don't really care about the looks, and I'm all about very modern and clean looking crap. Bought one anyway, along with a few new pieces from Knif. Going to be a sweet chain in and out of the computer. I had been considering buying a Black Box HG2, but Knif just released something very similar to it, with a couple more transformers in it, and a much wider variety of functionality. M/S matrix and processing. Filtering all kinds of stuff. Looks like a black box on steroids, and apparently can be subtle to nasty.
Pretty excited to put it all together with the Terry CEQ.

I want your gear budget! I've now used my buddy's CEQ many times, it's a great EQ, you're going to be thrilled.

Very nice, I am excited about it. I will agree, it isn't the best looking, but on paper, the functionality, and the few sound examples, sounds gold.
I am a visual designer by day, and I designed a new faceplate for it, added frequency numbers, just to see how it would look, but kept the original style and vibe of it. I don't know if that would offend the creator of the EQ? Know what I mean...

Yeah I took the 'cheat sheet' and put all of that info on the panel. I get it. 'Use your ears'. This is a classic case of poor UX interface design for a product. But it can be fixed. It doesn't make it unusable.

It doesn't make it unusable. It's a headache to look at and imagine until you get your hands on it. I had the cheat sheet handy at first but it becomes intuitive quickly.
