I had faderport and softube Console, good products , but not an integrated controller Including plug ins, Luna could be a true all in one solution, would be very nice.

I would be wary of all-in-one as I prefer to have things modular so you can take different upgrade paths and speeds. This of course for a full studio.
For mobile/desktop solutions the compactness, simplicity and integration of an all in one can be real benefits.
I am (selfishly) hoping that the wording of the email announcement means something for studios so maybe a 16 track integrated control surface, a UAD powered radar-like thingy or something along those lines.
Good point, I meant all in one integrating ua feature,a powerful controller and I/o, the repeated images of 2 consoles and reference to speed of light suggests great connectivity options ?

A controller with dedicated controls for eq & dynamics on each channel would be my dream come true.
I’m amending my guess to software only. I think it’s a Console upgrade. Console would turn I to whichever Neve/SSL/UA you choose. Complete path built in.

Are you thinking that the FPGA built into the new Apollos has the headroom to allow for that? That's always been the bottleneck for that sort of thing in the past. That's why I'm thinking Luna is a hardware product.
If the new Apollos can handle that, I guess the older Apollos wouldn't be able to take advantage?
Looking back at what UA did in all these years is basically bring all the best analog technologies into plugin form, trying to emulate not only the sonics, wich are the most important thing, but also the look of the analog devices in order to recreate the FEEL of the fabled analog days. It seems to me that in all their plugins line there aren't but very few plugins that don't have a corresponding analog device. they have a MIC simulator. they have converters with PREAMP simulation technology. they have a CONSOLE simulation that is looking like a an analog console, and they already have the channel strip of neve 88rs, ssl 4000, api vision and other consoles. they have TAPE multitrack and two track emulations. they have all the OUTBOARD gear simulated to the details. they basically have replicated a, say, 1978 top of the line recording studio studio. What is missing: a device that coalesces everything of the above together and monitors with dsp room simulation of the best recording studio control room IR reflections, without the need of a computer.

Not long to wait now!! :-)
The all in one thing is a big reason I sold my Apollos. I am a big proponent of separates / modular setup. I expect whatever Luna is to be highly integrated and very all-in-one, since that seems to be how UA does things with their digital gear. For the most part. That's wonderful for people with minimalist leanings but not for the people like us that prefer separate components.
Guess it's getting pretty close now. I haven't seen this much speculation since the Klark Teknik EQP-KT "pultec" thread a while back.
I thinks it’s a controller with controls for 8 channels (faders, eq etc), would be great with some transport etc., that both integrates ua stuff and has analog I/o, which suggests converters or a way to talk to apollos so you can still use OB.
UA knows not everyone wants to be completely itb ?

I generally agree with you on the avoidance of "all in one" approaches.
That being said, I think this Luna thing will be something that won't hinder the Apollos from continuing to operate as they always have.
IOW, you could still directly connect your Apollos to your computer, as you always have, but, if you want to go the Luna route, you could connect your Apollos directly to Luna and take advantage of the benefits that will afford, but you still wouldn't be locked into the Luna ecosystem if you didn't want to.
alright, it's gotta be some kind of control surface. and one of their immediate plugins is going to be some kind of software synthesizer instrument that maps to it. they used to ask about that a lot in the UA surveys, "do you want this."
maybe this is an elaborate practical joke and they are just going to release another compressor.
I still don’t really have any idea. The thing that looks kinda like a timeline hints at something like a DAW, but I’d be shocked if they developed a full blown DAW. The amount of features they would have to include to placate everyone would be enormous. There’s a thousand little features that if missing would be deal breakers for so many different people.
Wait...I think I've got it. UAD DSP will now be handled by...an actual satellite. UAD has partnered with EchoStar and Raytheon to bring you remote DSP hosted on a geosynchronous satellite 36000 km above your head. No more annoying TB cables or bulky processing units cluttering up your desk. No more calculating latency in pesky milliseconds. Enjoy the clarity and warmth only radio waves can offer. Live free, live now, live LUNA.
We know they are marketing it as a “recording system” that delivers “analog sound at the speed of light.”
Maybe something that completely eliminates latency somehow.
Or it has optical network or MADI connectivity so that they can be literal.
Maybe those unused MADI ports will be put to use. Nevermind...I didn't realize that only the older 16's have the unused MADI ports. It is an odd thing that they are there though.
