Update!!! The 1.01 version update fixed my issue with I believe was an ilok issue, and I was able to open Superior Drummer 3 without crashes to desktop when selecting a preset. Just as I was getting ready to track after selecting a kit and groove in Superior Drummer 3, my dog had a seizure, now I’m at the vet. I can’t believe they are open. Anyway, I just might be able to record something today, and to add, he didn’t have a seizure because of my guitar playing...😁 Hopefully, when I get back from the vet I can actually give Luna a go! Crazy times, crazy events!

Thanks for asking John. My dog is going through early stages of congestive heart failure. They are giving my dog oxygen and keeping him overnight for observation. Maybe it was my guitar playing over the number of years he’s had to put up with all that aggravation...lol. It broke his heart! He’s a good dog, and he has given us much love and entertainment over the last 13 years. In the next few days to a week we should know what will happen, but the dr did say that if he is a good candidate for the heart medicine he might be ok for a while, but I’m not buying it. I know my dog and he’s not doing good. He isn’t even acting like himself. He sits in front of me and stares at me like he’s telling me something is wrong. If they could only talk. Back to Luna...I’m going to try this again after dinner with another Luna update

Has anyone else seen a big improvement like me since the update? It seems to be working for me now. I am getting ready to dive in deep here. I’ll let you know how it goes once I get to spend more time with it.

firstly guitfiddler I hope your dog is ok... we lost our 14 year old border collie, Teddy , a month or so ago, and its painful.... He had seizures all his life.. .tough to watch. Well, I bought a spare SSD and put Catalina on it and installed Luna, and then the update. ( i am running High Sierra, and there are a couple of plug ins stopping me from upgrading to Catalina atm) Firstly I checked how much energy Luna was using after reading about issues with fans etc, and its the same as Logic for me. I am sure Luna is a godsend for some , not great for others...I am just posting my thoughts. 1. its free.... 2. The cost of the Neve summing extension is as much as my DAW costs.... 3. Its an early release so lots is gonna get better change etc..no point whining about something it doesn't do, it does what it does ...... now. 4. I really don't want to learn another piece of recording software unless I have to. I just wanna open up and record away. There are things (apart from learning to use it) that make it a show stopper for me... which if added over time, makes it more viable for a switch, But honestly it has to do more than what i use now and do it better for that to happen... that will be a while. Good on UA for having a crack, and releasing it early. For the moment I am just going back to the way I do things, and will just check in on it and see how it evolves. cheers Wiz

Update! Luna seems to be working flawlessly for me so far. I still need more time with it to get a workflow going and get more acquainted. I only have a stereo instrument track(SD3), a Mono rhythm guitar track, and a mono lead guitar track. Doesn’t seem to be taxing it. I like the sound of it. Seems like it’s a little different than my other DAW. For some reason it seems to sound warmer and fuller, also it seems that the tracks tend to mesh together better, when I did a quick mix. Maybe I’m going crazy, but I didn’t change anything with this setup, but Luna. It does sound good.
The Vet called and my dog took a turn for the worse and we had to put him to sleep just now. So, it’s going to be a difficult night. I’m going to have a beer and say goodbye to an old friend. I feel like cranking up the Marshall Plexi and tearing some shit up! I’ll check back in in a few days. Enjoy time with your family and pets, you just never know...cheers

I've been testing Luna since the night it came out and never had issues installing or opening...until they sent out the managing iLok article. LOL Then all of a sudden iLok Cloud didn't want to connect. I had to attempt several times to get it to open. What's bad about the scenario here is you can't even use a crash report or built-in feedback tool because the software doesn't even open without iLok Cloud connecting. The separate iLok manager was having no issues connecting.
And I've had an issue where I selected the 'check for updates' on the menu and it told me I needed to log in for that, but I was already logged in. Real smooth!
From my understanding, how Popman described ARM isn't exactly that. The native extensions have nothing to do with it. It's only there to turn off any DSP running plugins that are inserted for mixing (versus tracking), so you have that DSP resources available when you are tracking something new. So, just turning on and off what's allocated. If you want a certain plugin for both tracking and mixing, you need to insert it on that channel twice, I believe, or ARM is going to open and close the gate for when that thing is running.
I've continued to test and learn to use it, but my computer is getting hot and audible fan noise that I don't hear with other DAWs I've used. I'm sure it's partially just what I'm used to, but how they've laid it out to choose settings and plugin presets feels really slow to me. Lots of looking on multiple parts of the screen instead of focusing on what's in front of you.
With regards to tracking in Console, I've already set up all kinds of handy preset recording chains of Unison preamps and compressors for different sources (snares, bass, etc.). Easy starting points. Somehow these don't get carried over from Console. But just building up a mix seems to require a different mindset with groups and how you use VCA style control. I tried to mess with Shape to audition the various sounds and Luna crashed on me several times. Nothing you can't deal with, but wondering if testing now is really worth it.
I'm surprised so many of you are running with their company line of it's "free." It's not at all. Yeah, you don't pay anything over what you did before, but just to step up to the plate is hundreds more than other systems. And if this wasn't such a big deal to them from a success standpoint, then why would they have so many hours of product-launching, all-hands-on-deck, live-stream videos pouring out for days on end. This is a major release for them. It just doesn't feel like it to me from the result I'm seeing. The sad thing is, I really root for them to succeed and I want it to work well, because I'm really invested in UAD working for me.
And if you were using the "free" Google gmail service and it wasn't working right I'm sure you'd be letting them know about it instead of giving them a pass on a version one. UAD's growth potential only grows if we're using it to our advantage.

An email is kind’ve different from a full fledged daw. But ok...I agree that there’s a long way to go with it for me to use it exclusively. All I know is that it doesn’t cost me anything and it has some advantages for my workflow.

Just doing a session. Tracked in pro tools and the plan was to mix it in pro tools just because that’s what I’m fastest in...but I consolidated files and pulled it into Luna and I’ve been surprised how easily it’s gone. Luna basically uses all the PT commands, so not a huge learning curve. Got to say it sounds really good. I burned through the Neve summing demo and they just reset it for me...looking forward to see if that’s a game changer.

I really like the way it’s laid out. I haven’t demoed the Neve summing yet. In fact, when I updated to version 2... Luna hangs, and I get a Spinning Beach Ball of death, and I never get past the title screen. I read all the ilok issues and tried every fix UA has on their site. I have a bad feeling I’m going to need UA support because while I was downloading/installing my internet went down and it screwed something up. I contacted UA support and submitted a ticket...it’s been at least a week and I haven’t heard anything from UA other than an email confirming my ticket and an assurance that they are working on it and they’ll be in touch. Console works with Studio One, but Luna is dead in the water for me.
