I really like the way it’s laid out. I haven’t demoed the Neve summing yet. In fact, when I updated to version 2... Luna hangs, and I get a Spinning Beach Ball of death, and I never get past the title screen. I read all the ilok issues and tried every fix UA has on their site. I have a bad feeling I’m going to need UA support because while I was downloading/installing my internet went down and it screwed something up. I contacted UA support and submitted a ticket...it’s been at least a week and I haven’t heard anything from UA other than an email confirming my ticket and an assurance that they are working on it and they’ll be in touch. Console works with Studio One, but Luna is dead in the water for me. You’re probably going to have to call

Just doing a session. Tracked in pro tools and the plan was to mix it in pro tools just because that’s what I’m fastest in...but I consolidated files and pulled it into Luna and I’ve been surprised how easily it’s gone. Luna basically uses all the PT commands, so not a huge learning curve. Got to say it sounds really good. I burned through the Neve summing demo and they just reset it for me...looking forward to see if that’s a game changer. Very interested in your thoughts on this when the time comes, Johnkenn.

I’m going to do a bottom up mix of the same song in PT and Luna. That way I can see if maybe I hear things differently in each - and also whether Neve Summing makes a positive difference. I’ll post snippets.

Tracking has been a little confusing to me with the Cue stuff. I’m sure that will become easier, though.

Wow...the Neve Summing is a real thing. I mean - there's the chance that even though I'm trying to gain stage the trim, it's making things louder so, therefore "better..." But there's a glue and punch it seems to be adding. They reset my demo, but I couldn't get it to work, so I just bought it lol.

When I did, the Luna Neve did nothing new to me.

My studio partner did a very ruff comparison with the neve summing in Luna and the True Iron plugin . He put the True IRON on the busses with whatever preset fit that buss then Luna neve summing on the busses. His thoughts were there very little difference between the two . But again this was a very ruff comparison . He also stated this was only a quick listen and was interrupted during listen down . So he really needed more time to be sure . Just putting this out so you guys might compare and give your thoughts. Jfyi : he hasn’t sent me the files yet so I haven’t had a chance to compare. I just found a blind shootout on the purple forum with Luna Neve and some other Neve Bus plugins. Most people liked Sonimus Britson the most. I don't completely agree on this case, but, again, Luna was nothing to write home about as well in my opinion.

My studio partner did a very quick and ruff comparison with Luna neve summing and the putting True Iron plugin on all the busses just using True Iron presets . With only a quick listen he stated he heard very little difference. Again this was a very ruff comparison, and I haven’t heard the files yet. Just something you might try also .
Reposted I deleted by accident.

Oh well...maybe I made a $300 mistake. I can definitely hear what it's doing with the Low Q. I like that it's built in and seems more intuitive to me than putting on a Neve plug and dealing with gain staging.

I think that is really the Luna point: to stay in its UA environment although you can run other plugs. Guess, it’s really only improved workflow and acceptable sonics that matters ? Otherwise, why bother ?

John and anyone else for that matter, trust your own ears and get on making your own great music. Too much head shit of what ifs and second guessing is absolutely counter productive to creativity which is why many of us do this in the first place. Does it easily do the job for you in a way that sounds great? Yes or no - end of story.
FWIW, what I've heard on line means I'm seriously considering it (with summing) when upgrading next as it sounds great and cuts to the chase. While still in it's infancy you can bet UA wii have it growing up quickly. Cheers, Ross

While still in it's infancy you can bet UA wii have it growing up quickly. Cheers, Ross This mix is the best I’ve ever done...now, is it Luna? It was a great session...tracked great so the sounds are already really great. But I’ve got to say, there was an ease and familiarity that Kindve surprised me. It felt second nature because of all the PTs shortcuts. Then, mixing into the Neve buses (when I chose it) added bottom, punch and nice saturation to taste. It allowed me to drop a few plugs I’m used to using. Right now, I’m so happy with the mix - even though it took a little longer than in Cubase or Pro Tools, that I’ve decided to mix the whole session in Luna. One thing I discovered was I felt like I was hearing verbs differently. No idea why. Maybe it’s just evolving as a mixer. Anyway, I found myself gravitating to the RMX 16 on snare and some vocals. Kindve surprised me because I had only used it for nonlinear stuff before. Anyway - no freezes (actually hope they add it). I did start choking with ozone on the master, so I just bounced and mastered in a different session. This went a long way towards moving me towards adopting this full time.

In case you have Luna Ilok issues, Drew recommends Switching to Managed Mode.

I’m still having issues with Luna...UA Support is lacking. I wait about a week to 3-4 days in between responses. I’ve tried everything I can think of including manually removing folders and files to reinstall. Did the ilok thing, don’t know? It just hangs and won’t boot up. I’m still thinking it’s an ilok thing though. The prompt to log into my account on the Luna title screen never pops up. Then I get the Spinning Beach Ball of Death. Console is working fine with Studio One for now, until I get a fix from UA that actually works. I wished I could’ve used it on this new project right now. There are no reasons why it shouldn’t work, it worked on version 1 into version 1.02, then somewhere around version 2.01-2.02 is when things went bad. I got it to once load my plugins in the title screen and as soon as it hit the plugin decapitator it hung on that and wouldn’t proceed past that. I thought maybe there was a Soundtoys plugin conflict, but that would of been resolved by now. Anyway I hope this gets resolved soon.

There were Ilok server issues recently, what mode are you in ? I’ve tried both. UA finally got a hold of me...it’s definitely something out of the ordinary. I’m thinking a plugin demo or a conflict with some software I have, that’s all I can think of at this point.

I think this has come up before in this thread but I can’t seem to find it in the last 30 pages, lol. Please confirm: Luna doesn’t offer hardware inserts, but Console does, right? Has anyone from UAD offered any hints if Luna will offer inserts in a later release? This is a big issue for me. Thanks

UAD doesn't ever offer hints of what will be coming later. They'll say something is not included in version one, but won't say if it's coming or not.
