I'll try it eventually. Not now, because looks a bit buggy at the moment.

Ok I dressed it a little with just a couple tracks with big vis. This is where that freeze feature would come in handy. The Spitfire Chamber strings are freaking killer. The Ravel is brighter than the Keyscape C7. Guess that’s what a Steinway B sounds like. Not sure I have to have it.

My fist impression is pretty negative. I think the whole layout is clunky, hard to read in many places, and feels like I'm actually having to do more keystrokes to get basic things done.
I also rarely hear my computer fan, but it's been running the entire time I have had the software open. I had to shut it down after a couple hours of me just trying to setup a basic tracking session template.
The whole look with the marketing within the application feels slimy to me. I don't want a retail shopping experience in my DAW. The current setup showing a demo button was okay, but this whole look is too much.
I've been a strong UA fan but this seems like it's not ready for the world yet. There is no history window for jumping back several steps. All kinds of functionality is missing. I knew it was early days, but I'm shocked what is there doesn't work smoother.

From ua forum Luna Official Tutorial Videos Couldn’t find the topic so here it is, as presented in the NEW project dialog box Luna overview - What is LUNA ? Navigating LUNA Recording System Basic Audio Recording in LUNA Recording System 1 link YT Playlist www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...gMlJT9pwgFxl1a

Very basic with (for me) essential functionality missing and really disliking the overhyped UAD hype. Just an example: no way to change or ad keyboard shortcuts with al lot of shortcuts missing for basic functions (there is no shutout to delete or hide a track). Maybe I’m missing something, but feels like a toy to me

It uses a lot of PT shortcuts?
UA pushes it out a few months early , as a positive thing during covid shut down ?

Yeah, this whole "let's release early because of covid" I don't get. People will be happier in the quarantine dealing with bugs in a software?
Also, they said they would release in Spring. We are in Spring.

kcatthedog I'm perplexed by your time investment on the UAD forums and here on all things UAD since you sold off the system. telecastertube I don't have the software open, I agree there is no shortcut key for hiding a track, but DELETE I believe will handle the track. There is a button to hide a track. Yeah, the release was announced for Spring before this whole shelter in place stuff started. The more I dig into the various issues, the more shocked I am that they had convinced themselves this is an improvement and a new change in recording and mixing. There's obviously time to get things right, but there's only one first impression.

Ah, I’m perplexed by your question, do you have a point ?
I am still interested in UA gear and think about going back but typically find the costs of going back a disincentive vs just continuing to build my non ua hybrid ob/itb system .
I like the idea of a new X and the simplicity of ua plugs, but I can’t or won’t afford the change costs.
I have looked into demoing an X but not easily arranged: unfortunately.
Is my autonomy acceptable to you or do I need your permission to be me ?

It only deletes the event on a track... Slip edit missing, no groove quantize, no side chain etc.. It's very basic and kind of okay for a first version and free (if you buy into their eco system). UAD keeps calling it a game changer, that puts the bar quite a bit higher Attachments:

Exactly. The way we record will change with Luna! You don't throw out that kind of hype and not have a more fleshed-out product. Their marketing campaign alone was the biggest story of NAMM. How could you not expect something that works better?
Hey, Luna is free to anyone, just like CueMix, Sadie, TotalMix, or so many other interfaces' interfaces (say that three times!), but those others aren't positioning themselves as a new revolution in audio. Just something that produces professional results.
I'm content with UA Console and very happy with using UAD in other DAWs. So life is good. They still need feedback if they want Luna to work for people buying their stuff.
Someone smarter than me figured out that this fan issue is happening to Macs that have dedicated GPU cards, versus running graphics off a basic Intel chip. This is likely why Mac Minis do not have issues with fans cranking up under pressure like MPBs or some iMacs.

Whatever the cost of my Apollo and Satellite was, and the cost of the extensions they want to still sell me.

It's all included in the value proposition for buying into their brand. Just like all the free products that companies like Google and Microsoft offer.

It's all included in the value proposition for buying into their brand. Just like all the free products that companies like Google and Microsoft offer. But it wasn’t included until...yesterday. Many people - like myself - bought these items and got major value out of them before there was ever a free DAW with zero latency included. I just don’t see it as the greedy corporation stealing from the poor.

I think it is great that UA is offering the basic Luna for free and hope that it develops into a mature Daw. In Luna's current state it doesn't entice me to leave my Apogee Symphony MKII and jump to an Apollo interface, but I am a UA fan having the OX (which I love), an Octo satellite, a Quad satellite, and 44 registered UA plugins, so I would not rule out making a switch in the future as things further develop.

Anyone want to explain ARM to me? Can I just choose ARM (accelerated realtime monitoring) for the VI I'm playing?

Have to say - just for my taste - I prefer Keyscape's piano...

Anyone want to explain ARM to me? Can I just choose ARM (accelerated realtime monitoring) for the VI I'm playing? I think the advantage of ARM is the automatic disabling of AU plugins in your signal path to keep everything latency free while you record. If the VI you're using is a UAD plugin then I think you're all set

I haven't gotten around to trying Luna yet. Is there a way to use all the plug-ins I usually do in Logic, yet still use the Neve summing?
