I came across some high end speakers that I'm really jonesing for.
I don't really need them, but I'm telling myself I can use them to audition mixes and do mastering on..
They just got a set of B stock for a lower price and it's killing me..

Stager SR-2N and Advanced Audio 47fet. Have had my finger hovering over the "add to cart" buttons for weeks. Can’t go wrong with the Stager. Get a pair. They are in constant use over here. |

I hear they are comparable to Amphions, maybe a tad sweeter. Also, I saw that they are releasing an active version with DSP and an integrated sub, kind of a Dutch & Dutch 8C thing. |

I always found amphions too soft on the top, which is a result of the crossover trying to tame some of the jaggies in the response as well as the tweeter having a bit of a dip above 12k. These have a smaller tweeter, which helps dispersion naturally, but the waveguide being designed to compliment the woofer, rather than the tweeter is what I'm really intrigued in. |

Stager has been on my radar for a while. I have to do more research, however what are the differences between the two models? I've been wanting to get a pair of Coles 4038's as well. I even thought to trying out some cheaper FatHead Cascades. I don't know, there are so many ribbons out there now. Mesanovic - These guys aren't far away from me, thought about paying a visit. AEA R92/84. Samar, So many good ones out there it seems. DOnt want to forget about Royer as well... |

I haven’t been able to compare the Stager to the Coles, but they definitely scratched my Coles itch. They are perfect to throw in front of a guitar amp and have the exact sound that you are hearing in the room. Same for my upright piano. Killer for mono drums and stereo room. Perfect on (don’t laugh) bagpipes!

We're starting to run mixes through my sidecar now, utilizing the API 8200/8200A. It sounds so good that I'm starting to be tempted to add an API The BoxII and another Motu16A. But I do need to eat, and my wife likes having a roof over our heads......
