Texas will do that to you. Yeah, it's similar to Oklahoma in that respect, except bigger.
People around here start complaining about heat when it hits 80, sometimes less. I tell 'em to go visit central Oklahoma in August.
My people came to NC from Scotland in the 1780’s. I still don't like the weather in spring/summer/early fall. I like Scottish weather. Genetics is slow..... Although I was talking about Guitar and his love for hot sauce when talking about “heat”, the temperature here in TX is hot as well. But, I laugh when people in Dallas complain about the humidity. Real humidity is in the Southeast like rural NC where I lived most of my life. That said, 112* is hot humidity or not. Ultimately there is no difference between being broiled in dry heat or steamed in humidity. You get cooked either way.

We're not sure exactly where our particular Williams family line came out of the British Isles, but that chilly British weather is deep in my bones somewhere. Every summer I think there's no way I'm going to make it through the heat. I've been to Iceland twice now, both times in winter. The weather was great.

I think "plan" is an overstatement. Yeah, meant totally tongue-in-cheek. Or, tongue-in-hot-sauce per gwlee7.

Good morning one and all! I've actually missed you cats! Been extremely busy as this is the time of year we do design changes and initiate builds. I am so very excited about what's to come. I read back though some of the earlier comments and I hope I have refuted the erroneous ones - there were many. In audio as in combat, the two most dangerous men on your team are the one who knows a little and thinks he knows everything, and the one who does know everything. I do want to say in strongest possible terms that the video on our website was contributed by an early customer. It blew me away when Lance sent it to me. I did not know Lance until he bought our mics on Ebay. I have never spoken to him on the phone or in person. I did not pay for the video or trade mics - discount mics, offer remuneration of any kind to Lance. I will say that when I put that video up on our Facebook page it got over a hundred and ninety eight thousand hits worldwide, three thousand two hundred likes. I made the mistake, like a proud daddy, of pointing out that some live Rolling Stones video of the same period of time got less notice. You would have thought I blasphemed. Well I do blaspheme all the time about the gods of microphones and audio in general, but you guys know that already. I went to the Anaheim NAAM this year and was in wonderland! Acres of toys to consider! We lost track of our car like juveniles and it took hours to find the first day. It occurred to me at the time how much deception was employed in the manufacturing of all that gear! Not that it was done poorly or well, I certainly LOVED seeing the hand made acoustic guitars, and the new offerings of Austin's own Collins Guitars, but most of those vendors were disguising their builds as this or that. Truth was not part of the marketing plan! So be it. I've given you guys insights already you might not have had without me. My mics sound fantastic. That's my bottom line. We know what that is about around here. As our company builds momentum more will be revealed. But if you are in sound per se LET YOUR F*(&^%ING EARS BE THE JUDGE! Wake up! One of you guys thought we might have lip sinked one of the Sinatra tunes (bless you my son). Sinatra! Some of the best 47 recordings ever made! Your member had the cojones to actually post Lance's video! THANK YOU! I will be back again to wade through the bullshit. Peace and Love to you guys in the interim. Get out there in the meantime and make something that is worthy of an audience!

People here are always interested in discovering a new excellent mic that's affordable. This isn't the slutty site. Many members here have stellar track records and are authorities in their own right. If you've got something special, they'll know and pass it along to everyone else.
We come here for the comaraderie, insight and help. This is THE best place to introduce a new pro audio product to the masses.
So why all the antagonism?
Before they were well known and successful, I've helped quite a few companies get started through my videos and posts. You should simply send one of your mics to Vincent and me to try. You'll get 100 times more value that way than they way you're approaching this.

Tommy! You came back! I’m pretty happy because.. well YES that video on your site sounded TOO good, that’s why I hoped you’d correct me pretty fast. But alas, I’ve had time to think about it I am positive there must be a very sweet vintage tube somewhere in the chain that is throwing my head for a loop. All the old tape mono recordings from back then had that tube resonance that I’m hearing, and modern tubes that I’ve heard don’t do it.. (or maybe it’s some vintage outboard tube transformer that does it ? ) Hey.. Take my comment as a compliment, please! It would be a lot more trustworthy if you referred to your mic as Weird 47. I got a little paranoid when I see u47 thrown around, like.. is he talking the original u47 he modeled it after? Or his own? Well... he didn’t say his own, so am I being duped here? Anyway.. I liked the recordings, sounded great. Of course it might be all outboard, still we know you can get a great result obviously

I'm getting a split message here, Tommy. LOL.

And this was my personal favorite part of his post: I've given you guys insights already you might not have had without me. As if anyone who has hung around this board for more than a fortnight is unaware of what kinds of electronics and capsules are used in some of today's microphones.

HELLO MY FRIENDS!
Vincent you are right! There are several tube combinations we use but part of our secret sauce are the hand made German 7025 and 7025WA tubes we use in our Weird 47 setups. We had been featuring NOS RCA 7025 tubes as an upgrade, but we found something even better. Most people don't understand that a REAL 7025 is a special, military grade tube. In truth, why would they? There are more relevant trivia to life in general. But for us mic guys this is a key to the treasure map. Real 7025's as new tubes had pretty much disappeared, and some of the NOS versions were terribly expensive. From my field of reference Red Tube company or what is now Shuguang (and always was behind the scenes) resurrected the tube in a meaningful way. The Shuguang is a very good, consistently functioning tube, but our German friends make them better. It was a risky move to design a mic utilizing a 7025 under the circumstances but our results were incredible and I am so glad you have heard and recognized them! But our goal was never to clone backwards the 47 like everyone else but to create forward what the U47 should have evolved into and THAT is exactly what our WEIRD 47 Mod 1 is. Our quest was to be pragmatically true to the SOUND. Not to get caught up in component worship.
But let me also speak again to our capsules. We work with several but we now have two that are ours. The capsule you hear on those videos is our main, 35mm capsule. Here is why it is superior to our competitors. First of all it is a dual back plate, dual diaphragm, capsule with FULL BLEED gold sputtered aluminized Mylar diaphragms. What is a FULL BLEED diaphragm? Our sputtered material goes all of the way to the edge of the surface not just a dot in the middle - but all of the way to the tension rings - the O rings. Additionally, our tension rings are highly polished brass and make for a better reflective surface. Also we use precisely spaced and uniquely tensioned screw placements around the the rings. We don't have separate mounting screws like you see on all made for Neuman - Gefell capsules. Neuman no longer uses brass tension rings either, they use plastic, and they use a 45% gold sputtered dot on their diaphragm Mylar. We get a more pure transduction, more accurate by far, that translates into a warmer sound when channeled or shaped I should say through our tube and Rubicon capacitors. etc.
Now then, here's our big announcement, we now also have a capsule the purest will love. We have a 34mm PVC gold sputtered aluminized dual diaphragm SINGLE back plate capsule modeled in concept on the later K style capsules in that we use brass tension rings. PVC was the first 47 diaphragm material. The earliest version of the K capsule like Thiersch still makes did not use screw attached and tensioned O rings, the diaphragms were glued on. Anyway, these capsules have that full bodied, deep but sharp PVC sound that makes any voice sound so professional. I want to keep talking here but I work all the time and never get enough done it seems. I will be back soon though. Never fear! I have not forgotten you guys. So many things I would like to address and add evidence to, to possibly break the psychic chain of thought that prevails in mic tech. We don't have to worship at the alter! Or bow down to the masters!
