Hey Tommy! I have two of your Little Red Monster microphones and they are quite good. I have been using them on drum overheads, some acoustic guitars and mando. This was a recent purchase so I'm not ready to make a complete conclusion. We will give them a try on voice and I'll let you know. I can tell you this: So far there is nothing Weird about these mics!

Say something real.. you are almost funny. But I was never a Fred Willard fan...or an eater of fruity loops... did anyone yet bother to listen to the mic? Let's do a shootout oh you many mouths... put your mic where your tiny mouth is Tommy, If you want a fair, comprehensive, and revealing shootout of your mics then may I suggest you consider contacting Vincent R. here on the boards to see if he'd be willing to do that. Send him demos of both of your mics and give him time to work with them. Not only will it be a straight-up comparison against some of your top competitors, but the process, chain, and voice will ensure a level playing field. If you're not familiar with him, he's well experienced at it, knows what he's doing, and always does an outstanding and professional job in his reviews. Hearing your 47 against the FLEA 47 and 49 would be telling. Well, I'm late to this party. Thank you to Todd, johneppstein , ericn , and everyone else who mentioned me, for your votes of confidence.
Hi tommy , welcome to the board. Don't mind many of us. We've all just been around long enough and tried enough gear to know what expensive gear can bring. That said, I think most of us have had that moment with an inexpensive piece where we had to kind of check ourselves. I think that first happened with me when I put an old TNC ACM-1200 against my U87ai and the TNC was overwhelmingly more warm and bright in a good way, and ended up being the vocal mic on that session. I've also been a real champion of a handful of the Advanced Audio line of mics, since I think they have a couple of microphones that are real bargains at their price points. The CM49 being a big favorite of mine. I did a lot of background vocals with it even after getting my FleA 49.
Your Little Red Monster looks like it would be similar to the ACM-1200 or the Avantone CV12. Describing it like a mix of the ELA M 251 and U67 makes sense. I modded my U87ai and into a U67. It's part for part identical. So, if you'd like everyone to hear it next to a U67 I could do that here.
These days I have a Warm Audio WA47 in here courtesy of mike . I have to admit it's the best U47 clone I've heard for close to this price range. The Advanced Audio CM48T I had in here for a while was great, but more modern and kind of it's own thing. The Peluso 2247SE I used to own was brighter on top and lacked a bit of the natural compression that this mic has. The WA47 does exaggerate some of the 47 qualities we expect, but for $600 on the used market it's a real bargain. Of course, then I plug in my FleA 49 and the differences in quality become immediately apparent. I'm waiting on Advanced Audio's new CM47LE which has been redesigned and should have a huge jump in quality, and has had some R&D and has features I'm really curious about. I should get it later this month or by mid summer to do a shootout between them. I'd love to get your Weird 47 in here to compare to those two. I listened to Wyatt Michael's recordings with your microphone that you posted and they sound similar to what I'm getting out of the warm mic. Although, I don't know what kind of processing was done on them. At this point my introduction to his work is one of my favorite parts about checking out your microphone. Then again, Wyatt's vocals would probably sound awesome with an SM57. Its a fantastic voice.
A little about me; I'm a classical crossover artist out of NY. I specialize in Italian/Neapolitan song, Italian Opera, Broadway, and the American Songbook. I'm also well known for my tributes to Mario Lanza and concert programs along side my wife, an incredibly talented mezzo soprano in her own right. I've been a studio vocalist for over 15 years with credits in film, tv, radio, etc, as well as an entertainer showcased through out the North Eastern US. If you can spare any or your microphones for a couple of weeks I'd be glad to put them through their paces and put them next to some really nice high end mics to make a YouTube video with them. I've made similar videos with the Chandler REDD microphone, RMS269, FleA 47 & 49, Signal Art Electronics SAE48, Slate VMS, and Advanced Audio's CM49 & CM67 for my "Behind-the-Scenes" series. If you're interested please PM me.

Texas Pete killing their chili is one of the great regional controversies. Highly successful product everyone kept as a staple, one family owner just didn't like it and had it killed as a product line.

Have you tried the Texas Tailgate Hot Dog Chili Sauce from Boone Brands in Sanford, NC, who co-packed the Texas Pete for TW Garner? Never tried either, but have been a fan of Hormel Chili No Beans for my dogs since college. Depending on the brand, it could be another variation of a "Little Red Monster". (Have to weave the relevance of this discussion into the subject line somehow.)

One of the things about the original is it was vegan, the Tailgate has beef tallow in it.

For a simple vinegar based hot sauce, locally at the common stores, I seem to prefer the Trappey's Red Devil versions. Those are more Louisiana originated I guess.
I do reach for Texas Pete Extra Hot pretty often though, when I want that extra burn that most grocery store sauces are too scared to deliver.
Can't find anything hot enough so I am growing my own red ghost plants right now. Trying to ruin someone's day. Some of the local food trucks though will ruin your day with no apologies, so those are the ones I go to more often.

It just wrecks my GI system.

Part of that is that what is considered “mild” here is “medium hot” elsewhere. Lots of sweating while you eat here. 😂

Yeah, it's similar to Oklahoma in that respect, except bigger.
People around here start complaining about heat when it hits 80, sometimes less. I tell 'em to go visit central Oklahoma in August.

My people came to NC from Scotland in the 1780’s. I still don't like the weather in spring/summer/early fall. I like Scottish weather. Genetics is slow.....
