I came for the gear, I stayed for the direct personal conflicts. Screw you dude!! 😂 PS, remember that time you corrected me about API 550 gain steps on the purple board? We were both right, past a certain point they are 3db steps, but it starts as 2db. Pistols at dawn? I have been waiting for this day, for many months. Be aware I am highly trained in jiu jitsu submissions. But my main weapon is annoying you to the point that you will walk away out of boredom and frustration. They say stupid and crazy are bad enough but both of them together is a terrifying combination of things. I am both of these things.

What would a I be giving up sonically by going with the Audio Technical over the Coil? There is a loss in detail, especially noticeable in the top end, and less extension in the low end. Might be due to how they're doing the DC blocking, cap choice, etc. There's also increased headroom before distortion in ours due to all the extra gas (mA/current) in the tank. Both Steve and I used the audio technica boxes at multiple studios for years. Always felt they we're very sturdy, put out an actual 48v (not some watered down lower voltage), and never felt they were a compromise at all... until we compared one with our first prototype. We were actually taken aback by how much of a difference. We weren't trying to reinvent 48v when we designed it, just trying to make a very robust, overbuilt, linear mic supply. Apparently even solid state devices like good stiff regulated power. Are you planning on putting the CP-448 on sale? Are there any plans for a cheaper 2 channel version?

Why am I getting the feeling that you don't understand the art of recording? Why the constant personal attacks? Nobody here wants to read these attacks. Keep them to yourself. I’m really trying to be patient, but you will notice the warning level.

“I am both of those things !” Isn’t self awareness a beautiful thing ? Aren’t we past the full moon ?

Axe FX III is $1999 right now...I might not be able to resist (not that I have $1999)...but a Kemper liquidation makes it more kosher.

I decided that a 16ch SumBuss might be on my list. Think Jeff sometimes does a 10% off deal. That and two more ML2S would keep me busy for a while!

No plans to put the CP-448 for sale for BF but if you want to drop us an email we can put you on a list for b-stock deals on tradeshow demos etc. that come available a couple times a year. We might explore another 2-channel version sometime in the future - the issue is just the cost to do it correctly. We started with a 2-channel (the now discontinued CP-248) and when we saw that we could double the channels for only $55 more in parts and the same labor we just went ahead and did it to bring the cost per channel down to roughly where Rolls/AT and others fall in price. Whenever we can offer the end user a better deal - we do it.

Long time guitar player here with lots of experience using both. The Kemper, while great is like a Waves plugin whereas the AxeFx III is very much the UAD of amp modelling. It's really something on clean and edge of breakup tones too!

I've been liking it quite a bit. On a master bus (after I'd already EQ'd and compressed) I blended it in at 30% set to fast attack medium-to-medium-slow release the other day. It really gave the whole song a bit of movement and excitement. I've also used it on buses a bunch and loved it. Cool on some more natural-sounding drums. Cool on a set of acoustic guitars. Cool on a bass bus. Cool on a vocal bus. The characterful gentle squeeze of it all has been useful, for sure!

I got my Black Friday purchases early this year. Coil offered me an early BF discount on another CA-70 (apparently because I am an amazing dude) and Front End had a demo Locomotive 14b at fairly stunning price, so I jumped in for both. The CA-70 was already a known quantity. The 14b I was just really interested in a 'fast' variety-mu, sort of 176ish, and man that thing does not disappoint. 2019 has been a great year for me and studio gear. I feel like I'm pretty set for a long time to come.

Just bought a Samsung Evo 1TB SSD for $87 on amazon. Wasn’t planning on that, but I saw it and it made sense, as I’m constantly running out of space and having to juggle files onto externals. I want the Coil 286, but I also want to build this:

Yeaup, 1TB is minimum C drive space IMO for a DAW. Made the same upgrade myself about 6 months ago.

I bought a Playstation 4 😳
I’ve had a XBox One S for a few years but there are no games worth playing. Daddy needs some game time after stressful sessions sometimes. Ready to swing through Manhattan as Spider-Man.
I was hoping that along with being on sale they would included a free SSL Buss Compressor with the purchase of a Sigma, but no such luck.
If some were to buy my Highland BG-2 I might get a BG-1 from Front End Audio

I picked up a schmidt-ton of guitar tools and supplies. Stew Mac had a bit of a sale going. I'm going to re-fret one of my SX basses, the "jazz" one.

Back on topic, nothing exciting, but my potential list software-wise: AudioThing Springs IK Tape Machine Collection Fuse Audio Lab VCL-4 and VCL-25A So I ended up doing these, the Black Rooster VLA FET, a couple of the Fuse preamp emulations (saturation plugins), and picking up one of the Melodyne upgrade deals from JRR Shop. I think I'm all set on software for a while.

AudioScape Opto Comp. (I’ll probably buy one regardless!) Bought it before BF. Got it on BF. Tried it on BF. Wow.

I've been wanting to pick up either the Warm WA273EQ or the Heritage HA73EQ.
There's some nice BF deals on these right now, $1,349.00 for the Warm. The Heritage is $1,339.00 until Jan 1st.
On the fence but I am leaning towards the Heritage unit... decisions...decisions...
