Hey everyone. I've been a Slate Everything Bundle subscriber for 2 years now and my subscription is due to renew on Nov 25. I really want to quit, it just doesn't seem economical for me anymore and I don't really care, or use, all the new plugs they keep adding. I really only use a handful of their plugins and need some alternatives. With Black Friday coming up, I figure I can buy most things I need withot
Here is a list of the Slate Plugins I already own outright: Virtual Buss Compressors Virtual Tape Machine Virtual Console Collection Virtual Mix Rack FGX List of Everything Bundle Plugins I need to replace: Repeater Eiosis Desser Virtual Tube Collection I'm thinking of upgrading to SoundToys complete Bundle (because I already own several of their plugins) and figure with their delays I wont be missing anything with Slate Repeater. I'm hoping to find a deal on Eiosis Deesser because I love that plugin and don't want to loose it. And the Virtual Tube Collection is up for grabs. Whats a good alternative saturation plugin? Saturn maybe? Any and all suggestions welcome. Thanks

Repeater is a tough one...
For the tube emulations, Kush has some magic plugins. Try Omega 458a and the Reddi. Novatron is a cool tube compressor emulation too.
For the deesser, I’ve seriously been championing DeEss by AirWindows. It’s free and works a little differently than other deessers as it looks for sibilance in the form of high slew-rate. Makes for a very spectrally transparent solution.
Good luck!

I'm constantly toying with quitting the bundle too. And I also really like VTC and Repeater. I have Echoboy but for some reason I just like Repeater better. Both the layout and the sonics. Though Echoboy is obviously still cool and capable. I heartily recommend FabFilter Pro-DS for replacing Eiosis, though to be fair I never liked Eiosis. Always just seemed wonky and I couldn't get it to sound natural. Pro-DS is the best I've heard. I too am gonna be watching the sales and thinking about jumping ship from the Slate sub. I'd want the Liquidsonics plate verb too and something all around to replace Verbsuite Classics.

Liquidsonics whatever-it's-called-plate in the Slate bundle is the first plate that's felt lush like the UAD always did (to me). What do you like the Seventh Heaven and SP2016 for?

I share your sentiments and started with perpetuals like you. Seems the ones I lean in now are the drum gate (for live recording), VCC and tape. Those are the hard ones to let go of for me. I do use their SSL EQ for cuts.
I have even more disdain with waves. I think I only use hdelay anymore.
I dug in with console one to cure me of the plugin indecision I suffered from. I also really like the Liverpool comp and Lange EQ from Antelope - much more depth on 2 buss than Slate stuff I used to use the red 3 slate emu but sounds flat now in comparison.
I wish someone hit all the bases but I don’t yet see it, though I haven’t tried it all. No answer in my post, just commiserating/identifying with you.

For delays, Primal Tap and EC-300 are awesome. Valhalla's is top notch too. H3000. Ultrareverb, there's a lot of options. I'd recommend looking at LSR Audio if you've never tried their stuff. They have the 902 De-esser, API 525 emulation, and a couple really good tube plugins. If you're on Pro Tools, maybe the Dave Hill/Cranesong stuff will go on sale again someday. Overloud's Sculptube was quite good if I remember. Their Dopamine plugin is pretty essential for me, it supposedly enhances harmonic content that's already there. Softube has the Weiss de-esser and Tube Tech MKII. Heavyocity Punish is awesome. It does eq, compression, saturation, and transient stuff. There was another one I tried called Phoenix II that was halfway decent. Softube Harmonics. I'd recommend just trying a lot of stuff.

Hard to replace Virtual Tube Collection they do sound very good if you get the idea behind it.
Shatterd Glas Audio nailed the LONDON sound with one of their free plugs, code red free.
They also have a bunch of other preamp simulations.
What I like about the slate tube collection is that it seems they model the impedance as well at least they do sound different when you switch between preamp and console simulation.
Other idea - change your point of view.
The staff at Slate Digital is creative and takes the risk to hit the market with something new. Alone that is a reason why still my fee every month I want to see new creative tools.
Have good one.... A.

I’m with you on this one. The big Slate plugin I always use is their Verbsuit Classics. I love the 6K Vocal verb and it has been my go to verb since I tried it. The plugin itself is $200. The bundle is $149 a year for me, since I was an early adopter. I really don’t use a lot of the other plugins I don’t already own.

I dumped Slate after a year, but had a lot of other great plugins. It's a good deal and I understand, particularly for people starting out, why they would choose Slate Everything over buying things piecemeal from other vendors.

Seventh Heaven is great for vocals. It has a pronounced modulation that kind of smooths out a glues a vocal to the space if that makes sense. It very much reminds me of the Lexicon 480L. In fact I demoed both against each other and ended up buying Seventh Heaven because it was cheaper and possibly better (they were neck to neck in my opinion). The SP2016 has a lot of great room's that just sound right on drums, snare, and guitars.

Mine is due this month as well, and I'm also not renewing. I do own a most of the pre subscription Slate plugs, but I'm not using any of them now.

I love the Plate too and on the natural side there is 7th-H which is the closest thing to an M7. Without the 7th-H I would miss some real room feeling in very dry tracked projects.

UAD and Waves just got too expensive for me. If UAD would offer a subscription plan like Slate I would not have sold my DSP card.
Slate saved me a lot of cash with his plan. I also like the fact that he makes his mind around which tools make sense. In other words' no rubbish tools.
His latest move with the Overloud THU Rig player is just wonderful.
It saves me time and money.

I own the tape, which I use on every project, and the console emulation, which I phased out in favor of Softube Console 1. I still paid last year "just in case" but I haven't used any of his other stuff for more than one year now, so I won't be renewing this year. If I need to open any old session for whatever reason, I can still pay for a month and do it. Right?

Anyone know if Liquidsonics does good sales for Black Friday or not?
What about Overloud?

I prob will too. Gonna take a few hundred bucks but I think it will be worth it?
I hate subs, but I admit the Slate one is right on that price point line where I consider just hanging on to it.
