audioscape Chris - The V-Comp has been glued to the bass tracks here since getting it last week. Every time I bring up a bass track with it on, I just have to smile, and giggle a little bit. Freaking awesome. No wonder johnkenn has bought so many of these..... I felt the same way when I inserted on a bass track. It seemed like without even making louder I could feel the thump in my chest. I actually started laughing it sounded so good.

Dragging up an old thread to ask a question: I have two BF Apollo 8's and I use their 16 outputs to sum through an RND 5060. I am looking at adding a better Ad/DA and I am considering the Symphony 2x6SE. I was also looking at the Cranesong HEDD Quantum and the Dangerous AD+ and COnvert 2 but those solutions go waaay outside the budget right now. SO to my question: I would like to set up the Symphony in standalone mode and connect a) the mix output from the RND 5060 to the Symphony A/D in and route the digital signal to the spdif out and connect that to the SPDIF in on the Apollo and record the converted signal into the session as the "bounce". b) route the converted digital mix back out through the Symphony D/A into one of the external monitor inputs on the RND 5060 so I can hear what I am getting post-converter Step B would also help if I am doing an ITB mix to use the best D/A If I was able to get an aggregate device going on my mac I would even use another pair of the 6 analog outputs to send out the reference track to another of the external monitor source inputs that the RND 5060 has so I could switch between my mix and reference at the touch of a button. I used to do that with a pair of the Apollo's outs but decided I was better off using them for summing. I did enjoy having the reference there though so it would be a nice workflow enhancer And finally ... for those of you who have lived with the 2 x 6 SE for a while ... are you still happy? Thanks, for any input. Sorry, I can only answer your last question. I have the Symphony MKII with the 16x16 and added the 2x6SE about a year ago and I am totally happy. I print back to the 2 analog ins on the SE and the six analog outs feed two sets of monitors and an IEM system. My Bricasti stays permanently connected to the AES I/O and I feed a separate headphone amp with the Spdif out. I only wish the 2x6 would have been a 2x8.

Got the V-Comp in the rack ready to play with some friends. Wow, just setting it up as an insert in pro tools and running some things through it, I am in love.

What do you like better about it? Sound and tone all all subjective but I would give maybe a small edge to the AXE FX III. Where I like the AXE so much more is in the studio due to its I/O, which is way ahead of the Kemper. It can work as a stand alone USB interface which is cool if I am just experimenting with new guitar parts and don't want to fire up my main interface. Re-amping with it is cool due to the routing and I/O. The customer support and routine updates are some of the best I've ever experienced. The updates are so much easier than the Kemper due to their Fractalbot and AXE Edit. I love the built in metronome for practice. I think if I still played in bands I would give a slight edge to the Kemper for live work. In the studio, for my needs, the AXE is by far the better tool. I guess I would need both if I was still doing the live thing a lot.

I am a Kemper fan, but after getting the Axe FX III and spending a few days with it I ended up selling my Kemper after three great years with it. I think both sound great but the AXE FX III just turned out to be a better tool for me. Now five months later, I am even a bigger fan of the AXE and other than my Symphony MKII interface the AXE probably gets used more than anything else in my studio. The new bigger color screen and layout is vastly improved over the AXE II and the editor is fantastic for quickly tweaking an existing preset or just building your own from scratch. I am not a big effects users but the effects on the AXE are also addictive.

Im torn. I want a 76A which I think comes in stock..next week or so. But I want one of these too. Not sure I can swing both though so soon. I think you should go for the 76A first, then I have one less person competition for the V Comp. . Just kidding, but the 76A is really awesome.

So who is going for a V Comp tonight. I plan on giving it a try to add to my 76A and Bus Comp.

If you don't have a good acoustic with Mahogany back and sides(which this one is), in my biased opinion, you should have one as a singer/songwriter/recording artist. I have numerous acoustic guitars including McPherson, Collings, Taylor, & Martin and I only have one with Mahogany back and sides because I never really thought I wanted a Mahogany acoustic. After a guitar guru friend kind of talked me into getting serious about one, guess which acoustic now gets played the most, the Mahogany one. Just sayin. I guess that means I'm behind you on the ledge giving you a little nudge.

A Stam 251 with one of Tim’s capsules would be an instant buy for me. After having more time with the SA67 it truly is an incredible sounding mic. Absolutely excellent silky smooth mojo - and it sounds extremely natural off axis. I have a Pearlman TM-250 with Tim's capsule and it is one of my favorite mics that I've ever heard.

I like having the complete kit since it really takes very little time to do the measurements and I redo my measurements any time I change something or reorganize something major in my room. I recently got new integrated argosy monitor stands for for my argosy desk and they have the isoacoustic feature on them. I found that even though the speakers were in the same place the calibration file was slightly different.

Adirondack top with Mahogany back and sides is one of my favorite combos. Out of my significant guitar collection, my Collings traditional with adirondack and mahogony with Martin Monel strings is one of my all time favorites. I bet this one sounds incredible. Besides, I don't think you will find anyone here that will try and stop you. This one with your D28 authentic and you about have your bases covered. Anyway, that's how I would rationalize it.

I have the Audioscape Bus comp and it lives permanently on my mix bus in the insert of the my Silver Bullet. I also have a Serpent SB4001 and find it very versatile. It can do bus duties, drums, guitars, vocals, and what ever else I throw at it. I would not want to do without either.

I would stay with El Capitan unless you can jump all the way to Mojave, but I think the iMac and Mac minis can only go back as far as late 2012 to run Mojave.

With all the talk about 1176s lately, I just have to put in a plug for the Audioscape 76A. Tracking some vocals today using the 76A and the Silver Bullet preamp on the Neve setting with the Soyuz 017 and I could not be happier with the outcome. Also tried it as a hardware insert in Pro Tools on an electric guitar and that sounded awesome also. It is a good time for gear with all of this great high quality stuff at an affordable price.

Is it just me or has anyone else found that the latest update to Pro Tools 2019.5 native seems much more CPU efficient. I overdubbed some vocals today on a project with 16 tracks of drums, guitars, bass, keyboard and just a couple of plugins and hardware inserts and my CPU hit at a 64 buffer was only reading about 3-4% on my late 2012 Mac mini quad I7. In the past it would have been much higher, in the 20-30% range. It could be because I upgraded to Mojave at the same time, but I have to say I am happy with the performance bump.

I thought I would try the 30 day demo but it looks like you need to buy their dongle to run it. Anyone know if I am mistaken about that?

For some reason I only get 3 seconds of silence when I down load the uncompressed wav file. I'd be happy to run it through the Audioscape 76A I just received and post back. Try it now... I ran the raw file through the Audioscape 76A with the same ratio, attack, and release settings.

I listened to these on my studio monitors and then again with apple ear buds since we all know that is how most music is enjoyed today. I still think in this instance the SW version translates better to our most used listening method.

The Audio-Scape 76A showed up today. Great build quality and it sounds awesome. I may need to order another one when they are back in stock just to have a pair. How quick is the attack? I haven't printed anything yet to look at the wave forms, but just inserting it on some vocals and guitars and comparing it to the UAD 1176A I am very pleased. I will run some things through it and print some tracks over the next day or so. I've also got a couple IGS 576s I want to compare it to.

To my ears the Sonarworks version is definitely more pleasing to listen to and is right in line with my experience. It just seems crisper without loosing any of the fullness. Great song by the way.
