Well, the truth is also, the original is really worth what some people pay for it, but that’s a personal decision. I personally don’t care about the clone wars thing. Warm gear is made less expensively, so I never expect it to sound “just like”. I just ask myself is it useful at the price point? And you are right unless, you know for certain settings and gain staging were matched, it’s a little unclear what to conclude about apparent sonic differences. I thought the original had all that secret sauce sound we talk about with really good outboard and the Warm very useable. Ever since I heard Josh’s Chandler comp video, that’s what I’d be going for if I had the dough, in between, Stam and Audioscape!

I found, I wondered. what if someone just used the Warm as a compressor and then asked themselves, how is it comparatively to other $1100 comps?

There was a shoot out video in that thread. I found that useful as you could really hear the difference with the original having more tone.
I thought the Warm useful and good value.
There’s a used one online (Pensodio?), in the states for think $800

All good and experiment with different tapes, but if it doesn’t sound right: it isn’t!

Sounds lovely, be almost $5 grand Cdn landed, not going to happen, but , wow that was impressive. Or James Taylor, just built an old school reverb in a trailer in his back yard !

That’s just lazy retail. I worked as a waiter for a long time and believe in service.
If you need to make an appointment, you should be asked to pick from their in house list, your top 3-5 monitors to demo and they should be placed properly before you get there, set flat, be on the same stands or isolation system and then you demo.

That set up look like a proverbial dog's breakfast approach,
how could you make real comparison other than to two speaker that are directly beside each other is beyond me.
Was there any clarify about all monitors being set flat and open, no filtering or room correction going on ?
not very impressed.

Interesting Demo, by a non logic user: btw fab filter and ua are pre mapped, initially just for logic, but will be for other daws in time.

No, first batch sold out before they even got to store and I haven’t seen anything about an in store demo either.

You should be able to manage your ua authorizations so they are not cloud based .

I love the Studer for tracking certain things like kick and snare. I don't like the high end hiss it adds to cymbals always. It can be a great way to add some grit to a bassline too, but tbh I usually end up removing it in the mixing phase. I think it's a great tool to use for separation between textures of different sounds. Overall, I love what it adds, but at the same way I don't like what it seems to take away sometimes. All that being said, I track through real Studers all the time, both tape and console wise, and the real thing has an immediate vibe to it. Love everything about real Studer equipment. The UAD plugs *almost* get you there, but still missing some type of depth element, can't put my finger on it. Can’t you turn hiss/noise off under the hood?

$49 is a good price, plus if you have sharc chip hardware already you get uad2 and uadx, so can run host or native.
