Buying and then selling to buy the next thing...I completely get it and have done it over and over. The people i get gear from are like what the heck are you doing you already bought that piece of gear from me.
Your going to love the Burl! Babyface seems like a good choice for ya.
Two pieces I wont sell (fingers crossed behind my back!) Burl B2 and my Console.

Maybe someone can help me here...
As simple as this may sound…Can I use the Twin with my apogee symphony with 8X8 analog/AES/Adat card through the ADAT with the Burl B2 on the SPIDIF of the Symphony???
I have the Apollo 16 that I have been testing against the Symphony and I do not want to give up the Symphony. I would love to use them together but no ADAT ins on the 16.
As for the testing, I have not have the time to do a proper test for a product to be judged on the internet but I will get around to it. I will say that the AD on the apollo is very good and is close to the Symphony but my ears tell me the Symphony has that little extra something.
I love listening through the symphony's DA though and I want to keep it and possibly trade in the Apollo 16 for the Apollo twin if I can use it with the Symphony with the Burl piggy backed to it. I will use the Symphony as the DA into my console in USB mode on mix down.

I should be getting the WA1176 on loan from Bryce at Warm Audio soon. There are far more qualified engineers who can evaluate it from much more technical perspective than me, but I try to contribute in a different way, by doing tracks with and without, then comparing, instrument by instrument, then by a final mix, with and without. It could be interesting to compare a track with the WA 1176, and then UAD's plug.. but I probably won't include that in the video, maybe I'll post that here when it's ready. I enjoy the different perspective!

I have an Oram Hi-def35 on my 2buss, which I think does a very nice job. Hopefully there isn't as much hate here for Mr Oram as there is elsewhere on the web:) I have a Oram Series 8 channel console that I Love. Bought and shipped to the states for $2550. Took 1 1/2 weeks to get board. Eqs are worth that alone. The board is ultra quiet, great headroom, big console features for small change.

I'm with watchtower on this. I just want to hear some clips to hear the differences myself. Not trying to derail or anything, genuinely curious. No problem with this as I think it would be beneficial but I will start another thread. It's going to take me some time as I want to do a proper shootout (as proper as I can be.) Give me a few weeks (two kids, two businesses and construction going on in my home.)

Man, Im sitting here doing some a/b comparison with the Apollo 16 AD (same as Twin from what I understand) and the Burl B2 and it is just damn depressing. Need about 6 more channels of this Burl AD. I was hoping to keep the Apollo and sell my Apogee Symphony but no way in hell after doing some listening...I just do not like the DA on the Apollo (or the A/D.) I swear the my Digi 11r (that use for some scratch gtr tracks) has better conversion. Good thing I have some UAD satellites cause Im balls deep with UA plugs. John, why do you care about tracking with UA plugs...dont you have some great tracking gear??? Please post these comparisons. I want to hear the difference Yeah, I will when I get some time to do so...but really do not care what other people think unless your trying to decide on what to buy and need some help...I have them here in my room...Symphony, Apollo 16 and B2 and I hear the difference. Really I was wanting the Apollo to be it for me as Im using a console and it seems this thing was meant for it. Still going to do some more testing but I can say without a shadow of doubt most people who are not deaf can hear the difference between the B2 and the Apollo and I would say most pros care hear a difference between the Apollo and Symphony.

Very natural sounding mic big sounding warm blah blah blah ...love it on my vocal (Male Bari/tenor) Drum Room, Gtr Cab. I feel it takes EQ very well so I can mold it to what I want. Plus it looks awesome! Yes it does!!! But surprisingly very light.

The JBL's at my local store were beat up...they actually had 2 pair for that price but $399 still not a deal on junk. But I did pick up the Apogee Symphony for a steal from clearance and the manager didnt want me to have the floor model so he shipped me a new one. Been incredibly lucky lately with gear...thank you my pro audio angel!

In the big studios that I've worked at with Pro Tools HD rigs and SSL's, mixing and tracking decisions were always through the monitor section of the console. Thanks man!

I imagine that when recording you would plug into the console pres, take the console direct outs to your Apollo and use the auxes on the console for latency free headphone mixes. When mixing you could take the line outs from the Apollo to the line ins on the console to mix through the console. Is that what you're asking? Thanks for taking the time to answer but that is not what Im asking. In a professional setting do pros listen and make mixing/Tracking decisions through the monitor section of the console or would they go back into the digital realm (in my case a Burl B2) and listen through the the DA?

First My setup: Trident (Oram) Series T Board Apollo 16 Focal CMS 65 and Equator D5 monitors
How do you guys with consoles monitor...through board or dedicated monitoring DA device off interface?
I was thinking about incorporating the Benchmark DAC1 but is it necessary?

Also thinking about DA for the 2-bus. It seems that there are a lot more B2 ADCs out there than DACs though. I'm wondering about the value of monitoring through a Burl instead of the Mon outs on the Apollo, particularly since I'm mixing ITB. Gonna upgrade my monitors first and then see. Matt, I hated the monitor section in the Apollo. It sounded alright until I hooked the Dbox up to it and A/B'd them. If I was to use the apollo again I would not use it without a dedicated DA monitor box and the D'Box is perfect because you can get a true analog feed from it.

JK, The analogy is simple...you write songs , record them all yourself, mix and master, press them, market and sell. Very few people can do it, it takes a network.
But it's not rocket science in this case, hi end equipment can be made on the cheap...VP28 and one of my favorites the SCA stuff for example...as good as I've heard and CHEAP comparably.
warm audio stuff is made with a good margin because its a small co. If that Co. grows and adds employees to keep up with demand, adds a bigger facility, outsources some things, etc..price will go up and quality might suffer....I've experienced this phenomena in my professional career and its interesting to watch because it happens in all industries even the music business.

That's a personality type...that's annoying! Anyway, I have the Burl B2 and lynx aurora and I can definitely confirm that running through the Capi VP28 from my board back into the lynx is not the same as running through the B2. I had the 192 and even though they may share the same chip it obviously sounds nothing like it. I hated the 192 and most digital converters for that matter but the B2 was the first time I didn't hate digital. To me it sounds real and when pushed gets nice and crispy like I remember tape! Not sure Im keeping the Lynx yet, thought I might try the Symphony...to those with experience, is the Symphony neutral or hyped?? Hey Rick, Good info. Have you heard the Burl pres by any chance? Do you think those in front of another A/D would get you in the ballpark of the Bomber or do you think we're comparing apples to oranges here? Never heard the Burl pres. Tell you the truth...I don't know, maybe apples to oranges. I barely can use this stuff much less know how these things are accomplished. I will say the Burl B2 sounds great and I don't know how conversion can be approved on from this point. I would buy the mothership but Im a hobbyist and cant justify the cost for 8 adc and 8 dac's.
