I have the Otari MTR12 and the MX5050-VIII that will both get used when I'm finally set up here. I nice hardware emulator is available from Sound Skulptor, even has a 500series version. I'll probably build a couple just 'cause I like building things.

Vince always has made great gear. His LiLo mixing desk is really nice. John Oram had a similar fader pack which I owned years ago that went along with his eight channel mixer, and it was branded Trident. ( we won't get into that here ). This Speck VF16M would be the perfect finishing touch for my custom sidecar project, which uses the API 8200 and 8200A for sixteen channels. But yeah, it's a lot of money. If you look at this as a type of summing mixer, it starts to look a little bit less expensive. Imagine if he offered it with some sort of motorized faders. I hope he does well with it. Purple Audio was hinting at something similar several years ago, but I don't recall if it ever got off the ground.

An interesting story regarding publishing that happened to me sometime back in the '90s. As an electrician, I got a call from my boss for a power outage late on a Friday afternoon. I decided to go as I had no other plans, was recently divorced and had no other life, LOL. I wasn't given a name, only an address. I arrived at the Mansion in Greenwich, CT about five O'clock in the afternoon and was escorted by staff to the basement where the electrical panels were located. Not finding anything obvious, I requested to be shown where the problem was occurring. They led me through a finished part of the basement where I was able to see many gold records hung on the wall in the billiard room. Damn, whose house am I in??? Brought upstairs into a media closet where all the audio equipment for the house was located and where the problem existed. The house was a flurry of activity as preparations for a large party were underway. The owner came over and thanked me for coming out so late on a Friday afternoon and told me to let him know if I needed anything. I did not recognize him. I spent about a half hour doing my thing, found and repaired the issue and asked to see the owner so I could let him know things were AOK. A member of the staff brought me into another part of the house and announced: " Mr. Jameson, the electrician is finished and wants to inform you of the issue". Mr. Jameson ( turned out it was Bob Jameson sp?? president of RCA records, and I'm in his house! Talk about a foot in the door! ) came over, shook my hand, handed me his card and went on and on about " Thank you, you saved the day, how can a president of a record company have a party without any music? What can I do for you? Anything you need? ( joking of course ) a new car?, a girlfriend, dinner, what do you need? wink, wink". OK, is this happening? Hmmm, how to respond? Be polite, don't act star-struck....Keep it together. "Well Sir, Mr. Jameson, so nice to meet you. It was my pleasure helping you today. If you wouldn't mind, I'd be honored if you might find the time to listen to some of my songs at some point......" "Really?" he replied, "you're a musician, a writer?" At this point he was all smiles. Then he asked " WHO'S YOU'RE PUBLISHER? " My world went dark. "WTF is a publisher?" I said to myself. What do I say??? "Um, I don't have one at the moment" Immediately Mr. Jameson's demeanor changed. "Look, I have to get back to my party. Thanks for coming by" and he left the room. Did I really just hear that door slam? Did I really just blow it big time?? Driving home, I passed over a bridge on I95 and, looking over the edge, the thought crossed my mind, if only for a second, that I should pull over and jump off. I still have his card somewhere, as a reminder.

Thank you. What would happen if the patch Bay split the signal into two balanced outputs and one of the receiving units is unbalanced? Does that do the same thing as you mentioned?

I have a situation where I would like to use a patch bay, in normalled mode, to split a signal and have one side balanced and the other side un-balanced. Is there any reason that this would be detrimental to the integrity of either signal?

So in summary, nobody has sold off their hardware and moved ITB. I'm screwed if I think that can work out. Bummer. Jesse, You're so good with the hardware. Find a way to keep it going.

I'm no expert but I see you have an 860 area code. I'm in Southbury. Perhaps you'd like to visit and see my space, which is still a work in progress. The things you are trying to accomplish are things that I will be needing to do as well. Have Radar24 for tracking and as converters, and have Cubase 8.5 Pro installed on an ADK computer.

Agree with all of the above. Peace and blessings, strength and healing prayers sent your way. Ben, are the stairs a straight shot? Have you thought of a lift that rides up the stairs? Perhaps insurance would cover something like that?? www.acornstairlifts.com/chairlift-advice/

I went against some recommendations here and actually bought a Mac Mini in which I installed Synthogy's entire Ivory collection. Playing it in stand-alone mode, via midi through my Kurzweil MK152 Grand Piano is phenomenal. All three pedals work perfectly. The touch, feel and sound are superb. Latency is non-existent. The MK152 is over ten years old, but Kurzweil really nailed the feel and audio reproduction. Synthogy really nailed the VI end. I will never be able to play as good as this combo sounds. I can't imagine needing anything else for Grand Piano. I believe I can mic this live in my room and it would be indistinguishable from micing a real piano.

I always support local indie dealers. Leo's in Oakland bailed me out so many times its ridiculous. I like doing that also. The problem is it's getting harder and harder to find the local Indie guys or the Mom and Pops anymore

Just the Used RADAR V/24 with Classic Converters & Controller! Nice, Man. You're gonna love it. Another RADAR brother! I bought a couple of computer monitors for my keyboard room.

Unless you're actually using tape for capture, then everyone is hybrid to some extent. It looks to me like Harrison Mixbus would be the best ITB experience that would mirror traditional OTB feel. But that's IF they come out with their promised controller.

I started there and convinced myself going to music school to be an engineer would be a good idea. Now I pay a mortgage in student loans every month for a useless degree. Luckily, I got a job in IT while I was in school and have a useful skill set now. Yeah, but between Berklee & Chan's you sure have learned well.

Mr. Kilroy, did you ever try this stuff? The noise in my house ductwork is so loud I broke down and bought a five gallon pail. Not sure when I'll have time to start applying it, but I will report back my results when I can.

Carl Tatz Design is now selling an Audio Engineer-Specific chair in the USD $600.00 range. I recently got two nice chairs at Staples for around $150.00 each.
