Three M7Ms here along with the Model 10 remote. As others have said, the M7 Link plugin is essential and makes management of settings easy, rendering the remote optional. Five years in, I use them on every mix- it's automatic. I stopped comparing with plugins long ago. I think the M7 does a special thing that not even the Liquidsonic does. Along with the hardware, I use the Valhalla range and also certain room sims like the IK Sunset Sound and a few others. But the Bricastis are first-call for verbs.

Thanks, good to hear it. It would be a bit strange if they were different beyond the face plate. As one of the designers behind the ZR6064CS rack units, I can reassure you that the various product releases are essentially the same. There have been variations of the front panel in regard to colours and finishes. The schematics are identical, however, over the years that the product has been in production, there have been minor changes to the PCB layouts to account for improving manufacturability and/or accounting for component availability. The sound and technical performance is consistent through the various manufacturing runs of the unit. Thank you for the information. I love my pair. They live on the stereo bus and measure up to my expectation. I particularly enjoy the EQ section- the blend of stepped and continuous controls is unique but instantly easy to understand and use. Congratulations to you, Danny and all who were involved in the design work.

I think this is the third time I've linked up this track on RGO. It is possibly the quintessential BOC song:

Verrrry interesting from them. I recently acquired a pair of NG76s and a Rhea. They sound excellent and the plugin control option is genius. I'm sure that this box will be a killer addition to any hybrid or conventional console-based rig.

If anyone’s in the market for one of those, I’ll sell ‘em 3 V2s with custom faceplates for that price. 😂 There are far too many people with far more money than brains. I ordered one. It will be a great addition to my hybrid rig. Love API!

I don't think so. I've watched the YouTube video linked here and I don't think they mention any difference- but I might have missed it.
They're the same.. I had both the sunset sound one and a more recent one.. opened them both up. The pcb lay out may have been a bit different, don't remember, but the insides seemed the same. Sound is also the same.. that probably matters quite a bit
Thanks, good to hear it. It would be a bit strange if they were different beyond the face plate.

I don't remember, is the Sunset version different in any way but the faceplate color? I don't think so. I've watched the YouTube video linked here and I don't think they mention any difference- but I might have missed it. Just might have to watch it again!
Sunset's YT channel also has long interviews with Paul Wolff (API, Tonelux), Joe Chiccarelli, Mike Piersante, and many others. Great stuff!

Also have to mention that the brushed aluminium version is gorgeous in real life
I find this image righteously beautiful in a sort of "future retro" way. Thanks for uploading!

open ..musical.. big deep ,musical eq. Thanks, perfect, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Ordering a pair.
Your picture will download but it is in Apple's .heic format, which appears to not display as an image on this site.
I'd love to make it out to NAMM but I have a prior commitment. Next year!

Thanks for the info, I'm considering a pair to use not only as mic pres but also as inserts during mix and possibly even on the 2-bus to take advantage of what looks like a very flexible EQ. I did this for a while with my pair, works really well. The low end and high end bands are detented. The boost and cut overlapping in the highs makes it great for tailoring the high frequencies of a mix. It made everything sound a little more expensive, console-ish, if that makes sense. Quite a unique sound. Thanks again, appreciate the input. I think a pair of these would make for a versatile addition to my studio. I've been using an API 5500 on the 2-bus but recently moved it to kick and snare duty, where it will live for now. So I need a replacement EQ (or EQs) when mixing, and console-ish is exactly what I'm looking for!

I use one, love it on anything that needs full bandwith top to bottom clear(ish) resolution. It's like a magnifying glass, especially in the highend. Let me know if you have any questions. As far as customer support goes, Danny has been amazing. Thanks for the info, I'm considering a pair to use not only as mic pres but also as inserts during mix and possibly even on the 2-bus to take advantage of what looks like a very flexible EQ.

Built during the '60s and 70s, an insane amount of all-time great records were recorded and mixed through Sound Techniques consoles. In the end they stopped production- but the brand has been resurrected.
I'm looking for something unusual/unique to add to my selection of preamps, and this re-imagining of the line in channel strip form looks very intriguing.
It's available here:

I just got a pair of NG76s and a Rhea. They sound excellent in limited testing on a previous mix, and plugin control is a beautiful thing. I'm already looking at a Titan so I can have single-cable control over Ethernet for any of their 500 series boxes, and of course, to fill the thing up! I like the sound of that. Perhaps in the next month or two I may be in a position to start a Titan. Have you been able to compare them to some other compressors? What's your take on the Zenpro Clipalator files if you've heard them? I haven't listened to the ZenPro files yet. What I typically do is load an existing mix in Pro Tools and replace a plugin with the new hardware, or switch out an existing hardware insert, and compare. I'll do more testing tonight but I'm already sold on the WesAudio line.
For WesAudio, I took a leap of faith based mostly on reviews and other positive commentary that their gear sounds great. Also, for me, the concept of plugin control is a big deal. I first experienced it with M7 Link and it is absolutely the way to go for hardware configuration management. When I load a session my Bricastis each emit a soft click indicating that they've received MIDI from dedicated instances of M7 Link. What a lovely sound that is!

I have ordered a pair of Chandler Microphone Cassettes- one in stock, the other back-ordered (bah!). It is one sexxxy piece! Besides its obvious use as a preamp, I'll be using them as an insert during mix. The compressor is accessed separately, which opens up the possibilities.
I am addicted to Chandler Limited gear!

I notice I'm attracted to mixes that have less instruments/production...like say Stapleton or Gregory Porter There's a lot to like in the methods of the guys who record Stapleton- Dave Cobb and Vance Powell. Of course, emulating them is practically impossible, but I think we can cop some of their approach. Vance's videos on Puremix have cost me a small fortune, but sometimes you just gotta say WTF and go for it. Maybe you should try a Burl B32 and any available converter for D/A just to see. Since you are in Nashville, you might be able to rent or even borrow the gear and not have a huge outlay of cash until you're sure.

First one that comes to my mind is Sound Radix. I’m planning to upgrade to Auto-Align 2. Man, I had high hopes for Auto Align 2. To be fair and transparent, I’ve only tried the AA2 demo on a couple sessions’ drum tracks thus far, but it hasn’t blown my hair back. I still preferred the individual track polarity flips to get the biggest and most cohesive drum sound. And AA2 kinda just sounded like what AA already does (which is great on lots of things, I use it mostly on guitars and bass) but with a slightly quicker workflow. I dunno. Jury is out for me on AA2. I've found that AA2 makes a bigger difference on drums when I playback an entire track while it's "listening" for audio during the alignment process. Just feeding it 30 seconds or so gives variable results, which sometimes I do not prefer. I apply AA2 before gating or selective track muting, which seems to improve tom alignment. I've not done a deep comparison between the two versions- I didn't find it necessary. Since AA2 is easier to set up, I've switched. So far I've not tried it on other instruments.

Matt, belated welcome to the forum! I've got them strapped across my 2-bus in parallel and- wow! They are everything I expected and more. They add body, punch, and tighten up the low end while gently sweetening the top by taming the often brash cymbal work of my musical partner in crime, who happens to be a very bombastic drummer. I can only imagine how they will treat distorted guitar. I'll find out shortly. They will live on the 2-bus when mixing but will most definitely be used on individual tracks while recording.
I'm in love!
