It's not that easy. For one thing, there are environmental rules to deal with now. I think you need to explain this a bit further, John. I understand what you are referring to, and perhaps 1/2 the class will also. But just so everyone's on the same page, please . . . with regards to the materials in question. Thanks! Well, without going into much detail, it is currently impossible to legally build most vacuum tubes to the original standards. Too many critical materials are now banned under the ecological laws.
And that's not even taking into consideration the amount of intellectual property that has been lost, concerning the actual assembly of tubes.
The reason that most tubes currently in production come for communist bloc countries is simple - they don't have the ecological laws that the West does - and even so they still can't produce tubes of the former level of quality.
