The single pedal I added to my Kemper setup was a gateway pedal, I have to stop.

I mentioned this somewhere...I think I’ve too often tweaked the amp/EQ to the sound I like thereby really making every amp sound similar. I’ve been trying to match smaller amps like a small Tweed or Supros to be on the opposite side to give some differentiation. Amps that I wouldn’t initially think sound good solo’d.

I think each modeler / company tends to have a sound. Ive bought some I like, a few I don’t. Im gonna mention what I tend to like in no particular order. Tone Junkie, Big Hairy Profiles and Britt. For me, these 3 different profile makers give me a nice range. Looking forward to double tracking / panning TJ brown eyed girl with BHP friedman Les Paul chunka chunka rock. TJ always has way over the top FX going on, which I find interesting and well done for over the top, makes great fun noodling in cans but always turned off when tracking. I think the Tone Junkie profiles have effects programmed so you can step on them with a controller. I wouldn't think they were trying to sell the effected sound as a preset. It's kind of a pain to turn them off listening to each profile. I'll track with a little 'verb and delay, Kemper or not, if it's something I don't mind printing.

Yeah you can turn everything off. Actually found the TJ effects to be some of the more tasteful. With some of the Fender amps/more traditional, I've been using the newest Spring preset (knob on the right, past the delays and trems I think). I usually use it in mono just to give it a little sound like you might hear from a real amp in the room...then I'll pan parts left and right and then maybe add in stereo delay/trem/rotary or whatever stereo effect on a stereo channel... I've had my Kemper patched in to my patchbay from the TRS because I'm too cheap to buy another expensive Mogami lol. Noticed that it doesn't give near the output. Switched back and forth (using a temp XLR) and felt like the 1/4th didn't have quite the upper bandwidth which I kind of liked...so I'm keeping it that way. It totally could have been confirmation bias.

Do you guys record mostly in stereo or mono? I've done both but lean toward mono for most stuff.

The delays are really pretty good. And the new Spring is awesome too. I’ve never really played with pedals in front...might try that. I use them sometimes. Works just like a real amp.

I don't have mine yet, but my plan is to record in mono most of the time (same as I do with real amps). HOWEVER, I have a couple of pedals with stereo outputs, so I could see myself inserting them in the FX loop and recording stereo for special purposes.

John, were you patching it in with TRS cables? Or just TS? Sorry TS I get that stuff confused. They’re mogami cables. Well that would account for the signal loss.

Checking out the Tone Junkies profiles, the free sample pack is great. The Twin Reverb profiles are stellar, and remind me why I like push-pull 6L6 amps so much. Other goodness too. They know how to profile an amp.

Man, I'm looking forward to getting mine. Looks like it's going to be early next week. The black tabletop unit was backordered.

Welp, I ordered another one. #3 for me. Found a good deal on the white/Storm Trooper/toaster version that I like. I'm skeptical I'll keep it but I need to evaluate it again.
