Just ordered a second one. And I haven’t even really tried the line in eq yet (I know I know). I like the pre so much and the little bit of additive eq I’ve used that I’d buy it just for the pre. I wish I could order another pair on top of the pair I already just received, but I still have to pay off my pair of ADGs, so that's going to wipe me out for a while.

Sell-some-other-preamps-to-buy-a-second good? Consider scarcity, too. Thought I read somewhere that Josh was discontinuing these after this run? Or at the very least will be a long wait until another run.

Finally got the proper cables and played around with the line in for the EQ. Just played with a vocal - a vocal that was kind of a problem vocal, so it reminded me of how rudimentary the 1073 EQ is. Lol. Pro-Q2 has me spoiled. Anyway, it sounds pretty damn good. Has that nice HW ability to boost without getting nasty. Need to get it on bass and snare to find out more. All in all it sounded great. Nothing I noticed that was weird.

Definitely planning on adding more outboard eq in the near future - and if his track record on sound quality continues...

I've been waiting for Q3 update to be affordable for me. I jumped it.

Just got my tracking number. Looks like a Monday arrival. Mine too! Really looking forward to trying it. Regarding 1073EQs, I usually haven't used them much on vocals except to cut some lows and highs. They shine, for me, on bass, especialy, but also guitars and synths and drums. Pretty good for most instruments.

I'm really, really digging mine. Just tracked some male vocals today and they sound great.

Yeah like I said up above, it seems to sound fine. I haven’t used it on anything but vocals yet so I don’t have a lot of time with it. When I get the pair, I’m going to try using them for the two bus makeup gain coming out of the Sumbus. So, also eq.

After such a long long wait, I’m surprised no one is taking the time to put the 1073eq’s through their paces ? Bass, drums, guitar etc ? It would be very helpful just to hear how good the eq section is :-)

Josh,
So for those of us that ordered the version with the line input transformer and Sowter output transformer, when looking down from the top front of the unit, we should be seeing two Carnhill transformers over on the left and the Sowter on the back plate. Is that correct?
I'm just trying to verify that I received the correct options I requested.

If so I will send another one immediately at no expense to you

Everything seems to be where it's supposed to be. Thanks.

Well friends. It has arrived and here is my super non technical and lofi unboxing and rambling. Please don't ask me to do a shootout or compare it to any thing else. I'm no good at that type of thing. Enjoy

Well friends. It has arrived and here is my super non technical and lofi unboxing and rambling. Please don't ask me to do a shootout or compare it to any thing else. I'm no good at that type of thing. Enjoy Good to see more in the wild! I am planning to do a shootout with mine, actually, vs Heritage Elite, GAP MkIII w Zenpro Mod, and Warm 273EQ. I just need to do a bit of planning. I am thinking of the following tests: 1. 2 mic guitar cab setup with Shure Unidyne III and IV (looped performance for consistency). No EQ and/or 50hz HPF only. 2. DI passive bass with a chosen EQ setting (probably not looped because the interaction between the pickups and input is an important factor). 3. Drum processing through line inputs with EQ. 4? Possibly analog synth DI or line input EQ processing. 5? Insert test between Warm and Stam with either reverb or tape echo. What do you guys think?
