We'll see how many more "shipping this week for sure!"s I can handle. It's sort of like waiting for a table. You get told 15 minutes over and over and over and by the time you're 90 minutes in you totally resent the place but you've put in so much time waiting already that it seems like a waste to bail...
If it wasn't such a unique piece (the ADG) I'd have been out several broken promises ago. I dunno if I'm up for hounding Stam for weeks to get a refund though. Plus, I'm pretty certain it'll ship next week. And the week after that. Also the next one...

Hahahahaha... well, regardless I hope you get what you're waiting for soon!
Meanwhile, definitely don't sleep on the AS stuff. It truly is as amazing as it seems on the surface.
SORRY FOR THE OT!

Well, I'm posting ADG stuff in the 1073 thread so I'm way off topic too.
Is there ever really more than one Stam thread though? It's all basically the same thing.

You can get a refund today and I can invoice you when one is ready with the same price as the first 100 pre order if that makes you happier. No, you will not lose your place in line. PD: +1 on the AS train, you won't regret his stuff. He makes great units and we don't make anything similar to each other so if you can afford it, you can have both!

PD: +1 on the AS train, you won't regret his stuff. He makes great units and we don't make anything similar to each other so if you can afford it, you can have both! Yes you did. I never said otherwise. But this is now I think the fifth time it was going to ship and didn't. At least two or three of those times I was given an "explanation". The last one was "we have the PCBs now and will resume shipments next week". That was late March. So a month plus after you invoiced me and I paid you, you finally *had the PCBs*. I do appreciate getting info about the order but the real "explanation" is that you invoice customers and promise shipment a long time before our orders are ready, apparently sometimes before you even have the parts to build our orders. I've said it before, it's an own-goal. You could save so much ill-will towards your company if you just stopped telling customers things that aren't true. It's not the wait that's the real issue, never has been. Edit: and I should say, if the personal trials I've heard about are true, you have my sympathy. It's more than understandable that things like that would make your business take a back seat, and that's as it should be. I'm just speaking generally, as a going concern. My last order from you was just like this. It wouldn't be anywhere near as frustrating for us customers if you didn't get our hopes up over and over when our gear isn't even close to being ready. I'm not going to post about it anymore since it's not serving any purpose other than clogging up threads. My experiment with Being The Squeaky Wheel has reaffirmed that I don't like it and don't want to operate like that. Maybe I get the ADG someday, maybe I move on and decide I don't have the stomach for the Stam customer experience. Either way, good luck.

So Josh, what is the latest on the ADGs? A few people have gotten theirs and now everything seems to have gone silent on the ADGs. What's causing the delays?

You should send him the dry vocal. I’d love to hear it through the SA23+ while I contemplate whether to stay on the Stam train or jump ship into Audioscape land. Just do it already. You'll NEVER regret it. Mwhahahaha. I own almost everything that Chris makes, so I'm a fanboy, admittedly so. BUT, it's because his stuff is fkn ridiculous and has never failed to absolutely AMAZE me. Plus, I love and feel GOOD supporting a small, family owned company that makes every unit by hand in the USA... with essentially, zero compromise. It's truly amazing what AS has been able to achieve with their products, sonically. Total steal... I've owned a TON of gear over the years.... and Chris and Co. at AudioScape are absolutely killing it... The new stuff is CRAZY... Chris Yetter and Joshua Vander Stam are definitely doing amazing work and opening up the possibilities for those of us who need gear and can't afford everything to be made out of unobtainium. I'll probably renew my order for a pair of 1073EQs later this year. For right now, I need to just finished paying off some debt and making better use of everything I have. If you went through my entire inventory of gear, you'd probably hit me. It's obscene. Waiting patiently on more 1073EQ reviews!

Did any of you here in the US have to pay any sort of import duties? My pair of 1073s are scheduled to arrive this week and I see on the DHL tracking site that "payment is required". I'm beginning to suspect that I'm about to have to pay some kind of duties fee that I wasn't planning on.
If any if you have had to pay duties, how much did it cost you?

I thought there was free trade between Chile and USA, not the case in cdn?
Check with your border services.

I'm not sure. I just know it says that payment is required. If Stam owed them money for the cost of shipping, for which I already paid Stam, I wouldn't imagine that the the shipment would even be moving along towards delivery.
So the only other thing I can come up with is that there might be some sort of duties being charged.

My understanding was the same as Kcatthedog's of free trade between U.S./Chile.
When I received my 76ADG there were no extra fee's beyond the shipping fee I paid to Stam Audio on final invoice for DHL shipping.
I'm currently waiting on tracking for a SA67 with NOS tube and 1073EQ Sowter line in and don't expect to see any additional fee's after already having paid the final invoices.

There are federal sales taxes in place in all signatory countries to the former NAFTA which was expanded to include Chile and some other countries, I believe. Not sure how USMCA trade agreement affects things. Not even sure if it has taken effect yet. My two 76 ADGs were shipped separately so II didn't get dinged with any federal sales tax, but I did get hit with a $75 DHL processing fee.

Processing for what ? If there were no brokerage import activities and the shipping door to door was paid for , what was dhs charging you for ?

Yeah, I'm not paying $75 "processing" fee on top of $100+ for shipping.
