While those/these mics sound amazing, I think many of the people that can afford them A) Already have dozens of vintage and boutique clones, B) Realize that these things aren't the magic panacea C) Would rather buy vintage... Anyway, everyone has been clamoring for Neumann to do this, and now here we are naming off all the reasons it won't work lol. I bet they have a very small limited run of these, cause a commotion and sell out. Even the vintage aren't the magic panacea. I can attest. And so can you. You spit into mine, did you pass out from it? Of coarse not. Nobody does. My thinking is most people want to be a part of the history of the records they listened to and were inspired by when they actually used these mics because there was nothing else to use. They aren't magic. The music that was made then without a grid or auto tune was. Just some ramblings here. No one take offense please.

What I really hope is they don't do an "AI" thing like the did with the 87. The "AI" is still a great sounding mic, but it is a bit brighter, and I prefer the original 87, which was perfectly balanced. You raise an interesting point. the took the despised "GACK" out of the U87 with the ai and then everyone realized ... "HEY, we don't despise the GACK after all!" This is all the info that I’ve confirmed. It will be right at $7000 Works for me!! I imagine you’re right. The hard line demand for mics like this is very low. I'm ordering 2 today. hopefully a matched pair, but if not... any 2 will do! I bought 2 U47FET reissues and have ... no ... issues. LOL

LOL Congratulations, there will be an intial rush of guys like you but the reality is JK is right, there just isn't that much demand at this price point. It will do better than the FET47 reissue but the reality is there just aren't that many big studios or broadcasters who will spend $7k on a mic that don't have a 67 that will pony up.

Don't wanna be THAT guy...but here I go. I know everyone knows this, but it's nice to hear the truth occasionally. These are all just tools. Most of the time, you get what you pay for - expensive tools just work and save you time and effort. It's the collector in all of us that gets us in trouble. We aren't out golfing or buying sports cars or buying boats. THIS is both our hobby and our jobs. So - man - whatever makes you happy, right? I can't find a logical reason to spend $2500 more than a REDD, $1000 more than a Bock, $2500 more than an Upton, etc. But it's a luxury - one I'm sure I'd love to have. And I bet it will sound amazing. But I bet it wouldn't stop my gear lust for one second.

It's a good thing for a lot of reasons. First, we'll finally have a brand new real Neumann U67 to compare to all the other new 67 style mics. This will certainly shed some light on just how good they are, or aren't. If it's really good, it may bring the vintage 67's down a little in price. The Io 67 sounds fantastic, and can be had for well under 3 G's.
The Stam 67 will certainly sound good, and the Neumann reissue will only serve to raise their perceived value if they're close in sound.
I'm kinda with John in general though. If I had a $7,000 mic budget, I'd get the Soyuz 0-13 for acoustics in busy tracks, the Chandler REDD for vocals, a couple of vintage SM57's, and still have $1,500 left. If I needed more bang for the buck for more instruments, I'd happily use the IO 67 or the Stam 67 and and put the difference toward other mics for different purposes.

I'm pretty much done for now..... unless I hit the lottery. Then all bets are off!

Why would they make it a limited edition?

No idea. Probably because they don’t want to be stuck with stock.

Why would they make it a limited edition? To drive up demand, and raise it’s perceived value? I dunno...I kinda feel like even if they discontinued it in 3 or 4 years, I would definitely do my best with finances to try and get one. I’d love to have a piece of microphone history. I might even use it to record as well lol:)
