First kit I came to. Could have probably done better if I'd taken some time.

Both. The only issue I've had is the crash sometimes cuts off when you play the ride right after.

Good to know, Holmes. Sure enough....I see that. Still--you have to download it for it to be there.

This thing is on an entirely different level compared to anything else that's out. Like the Kemper of drum programs. Agreed! The level of tweakability is almost overwhelming. I spent about an hour building a "go to" kit and wound up with about 3 different versions because you can make them sound so completely different with the processing available. I was actually comparing it to a real drum track that I recorded at Soundstage and it was definitely as 3 dimensional as the real drum track. Kudos to Toontracks!

I've built a couple of go-to kits too. But it's amazing how much every song lends itself to different drum sounds. Was working on one last night and popped in on of the Premiere rock room presets. Pretty much there.

I'll eat my big ole cowboy hat if anyone can tell the difference in this and live recorded drums. They sound so natural and out of the way in a song. The drums don't bring attention to themselves. That's a good thing I recon.

Definitely a good thing!I struggled endlessly with SD2's samples, which were always hit too hard. I can't buy this yet, but I will soon. If I'd known about this sooner, I could have asked it to be my birthday present tomorrow. :-)

You know what would get me to buy this immediately? If it reads Apple's Articulation IDs for the Drummer Track so I can insert it onto the Drummer Track and program it USING the (assumed) more dynamic sound set in SD3.

Hell, its better than 85% of what I get. Yeah especially considering we usually get a whopping five or ten minutes to get a drum sound on demoes half the time!

If I'd known about this sooner, I could have asked it to be my birthday present tomorrow. :-) These samples are quite the opposite. Untweaked they are very vanilla in my opinion. Not aggressive at all but with just a few tweaks you can turn them into completely crushed if you want. Definitely opens up a lot of possibilities for just about any of the samples.

Worth a try at least ; )

Dial in your midi performance with Drummer, then convert to GM, and load up SD3 also this:

Ya gotta program in some simple fills leading into the different sections of the different tunes. That hi-hat+cross stick pattern got real old once the chorus came around. Even just a single tom on beat 4 and a soft crash on beat 1 will add everything that's missing from that drum track. but that mix is awesome!

Dial in your midi performance with Drummer, then convert to GM, and load up SD3 also this: I'm not only aware of that, the environment is unnecessary--it's what I did initially, too, but you can do one of two things quicker--you can replace the DKD plug in on the denier track....or shift-opt drag to make aliases on the regions on a second track. You have the same issue with hats either way. Seems like if you use the alias method AND set DKD to "gm+mod wheel for hat control", it does ok, but I'm still finding it's mid wheel mapping (response curve)needs tweaking on the instrument. There's also a scriptor preset allowing some coarse remapping--where you can change that CC number. Which is why I said I'd buy this if it had a mode where it was intentional using the AIDs to map the hat to the same levels. I bet Apple engineers never abbreviated that during development.

I've got the option to upgrade for $200.00 which is nothing really, but y'know what? I'm not digging it.. I gather it must just be me but it has that same old narrow slightly plasticy sound most of us has come to love or after years of working with metal bands (hate GRRR!).. Also when backing and forthing between Abbey Road, I'm not thinking yeah SD3 is soo much better. Is it just me?
Need more input.. Looking forward to more clips.
