As a EZ Drummer/Superior Drummer 2 user (I write in EZ and then drag midi to Superior usually) this looks uber cool. Tap 2 Find in Superior 3 = no more EZ.. The videos on Toontracks site are cool, the long video at Sweetwater covers a lot, if your interested in the product and get bored, watch the second half of the Sweetwater video.

Man this thing is powerful! I'm just now getting into the Superior drummer world. The Tracker thing looks really cool too. Not so blown away with the drum sounds but there are plenty of Nir Z kits and others to be had. I'm getting it.

Does anyone know if you can double click a midi section on the grid and turn up or down the number of hits of each drum like you can in EZ?

44.1? This is 2017. Why are these samples 44.1? Foolish.

I mean with all the internal stock plugins it has inside SD to process all the sounds I would think it would perform the functions at the highest bit depth and sample rate. I have been wrong before tho...

Just seems like they cheaped out.

Well, at 230gb at 44.1Khz, just how big would it be at 48Khz? 96khz? They had to make compromises so the data size is reasonable. besides, 90% of customers will be using stereo mixes, not 5.1, 7.1, 9.1 or 11.1 mixes, so you gotta think about that.

But seriously, I just upgraded from EZ to SD2 less than a month ago, have barely tapped into it's awesomeness, and can't wait to upgrade to SD3! It looks stellar!

So what do people think of the sound - have they got rid of the Toontrack snare "smackiness" that I know Johnkenn always disliked about some of the Toontraxk SDX sets.
I personally prefer RAW unprocessed samples and it seems Toontrack have done that with SD3 but they do sound fairly polite and polished in the way they were originally recorded.
I already have SD2 so the upgrade cost isn't too bad - but SSD 5 is on it's way and I also have BFD 3 - so I'm just waiting a bit to get the general "word on the street" so to speak.

Will Black Friday be a cheaper upgrade from SD2?

Some of the newer SDX's and EZX's got away from the smacky snares...lots of times I'll mix in my own samples with Trigger too. Best of all worlds.

I try and use the same snare or close as possible in trigger and match the tuning.

The issue I've always had with Superior / EZ compared to mic'ing a real kit is depth perception, for some reason they always sound very centered / narrow within an imaging field and I have to do a bunch of tricks to try and widen it out.. That's with using OH's and Room mic's.
Certainly not the only drum pack to suffer these issues, but that was one place where SSD excelled.. Although Toontrack stuff always sounded far more "realistic" to me. There's a pack for SSD that's supposed to sound awesome, blackbird or something? I wouldn't mind comparing the two before upgrading.

I'm interested - All I have right now is Logic's drummer. I'm sure SD3 comes with a good library of grooves, but how easy is it to zero in on the one you want. Does it have some kind of system that lets you play into it from a keyboard, from which SD3 then interprets and brings up relevant grooves? I hate scrolling through libraries.

I've looked over some of the videos and online literature. Has anyone seen anything about enhanced humanization? I didn''t see anything about it and that would be my biggest reason to upgrade. Short of that, I don't think I'll be in any hurry.

Apparently they added the "tap to find" feature from EZ drummer. You can probably find videos demonstrating this (EZ drummer videos..)
