PCI/e audio. Implement that....and I bet you'll see all the rest of my seemingly absurd recommendations on this subject fall into place. I don’t get it. My Symphony MKII (TBolt) is already very fast and I have no interest in getting a second computer so I can print SD3 live. If that’s what you’re referring to?

Were you able to get this patched into SD3 so that you can track while playing SD3 samples? I tried the standalone SD3 for that and even at the lowest SD3 buffer (64) it was srill not as immediate feeling as I wanted. So I monitor the Roland sounds while tracking, which is really pretty nice. There’s a lot of sounds and they’re very decent and fun to play. +1 I track my E drums whilst listening to my Roland MIDI module - the sounds in the module are actually very good for this purpose and the technology inside the module is something slightly different to MIDI and the direct connection between the pads and the module makes even my PCI/e RME host card at 32 buffers and 96KHz sample rate still feel like I'm playing through custard if I try to monitor the output of SD3. I have to monitor the Roland module - which is as close to instant as is possible with electronics - the Roland monule seems to create zero latency - I can't even stand 2ms when I'm drumming so monitoring the output of SD3 is a complete no go for me. Nothing beats real drums of course for feel - but monitoring a Roland module and using the resulting MIDI file to trigger SD3 is darn close to real drums ITB - very, very close actually. I'm saving to get the Roland TD50 upgrade package (module, snare and ride) to augment my Drum Tec E. kit then experience will be even closer to tracking with real drums. Even though the Roland sounds aren't up to using in a recording the playing experience of the TD 50 module new snare and ride really is stunningly good.

Bought it last Friday, it took 11 hours (!) to download every part and install. I guess 50 megabit Internet connections are not what they used to be. Sounds very good - the kicks are especially well done IMO - and it will be replacing BFD3. Trying to decide just how much of the room ambience to dial in. I'll also be using the groove library for songwriting, which I never really got into with BFD.
I wish that an IR existed for Galaxy Studio in Belgium. It's a pity that Massenburg didn't model the room while he was in there, he certainly had the gear to do it right! It would be cool to be able to add additional instruments into a sim of that killer acoustic space they have.

Wow. The 3.1 update improves the eDrum integration exponentially. Where before, there was a "Roland" preset, which wasn't totally spot on with my TD-25KV kit, now when you click "Roland" there are about 20 different model options and when I select "TD-25", things are triggering perfectly. Like zero tweaking, just sounding natural. I'm pumped.
Also, Toontrack, gimme some more SDX's. Non-metal please. Thx.
Edit: Seriously, if they did a lower tuned, drier library, they'd sell like hotcakes. I love Indiependent (and use it all the time) but the newer SD3-specific stuff does have some more realism to it.
I just don't want it to all sound like BRO COUNTRY'n'MOTLEY CRUE ALL THE TIME.

I am really glad to hear this... this was the single biggest issue integrating e drums... getting the sensitivity correct and the hi hat articulations working so it sounds realistic... good news congrats Cheers Wiz

It really is cool. Amazing power in the V Drums/SD3 combo.
And with Keyscape and the KX88, man, I’m feeling good!
Got the UA Ox showing up in a few days too. Lotta hybrid virtual stuff going on over here (though I’ll be surprised if I keep the Ox).

Have you demoed indiependent and Bob Rock ? Midi grooves? I believe they both have precrecorded patterns by song segment m/style that you can arrange into a drum part, is that what you mean by grooves ?

I've never read where any of the grooves they sell don't work with tap2find, so I'd assume they do; however, I don't use that feature so some may know more than I do about that.

M57, you tap a beat, kick, snare, maybe hat, and it automatically finds the closest beats to yours in descending order of closeness to the original.

Anyone use Platinum Samples? I do! They sound fantastic. I tried to take another picture of all the kits, however it keeps telling me the file is too big. Strange because it’s the same size as the last pic I took? Since installing SD3 on my sound files drive I had to take all my sdx expansions off of it to fit SD3. I need a bigger ssd for my sound drive for my VI’s. Currently researching ssd drives. I need upwards of 2 TB. I need another solution for my VI’s. The SSD’s get very expensive as you get to 2TB and up. I would like to do a comparison between these and the new Bob Rock SDX. I need more SSD space though, so my SDX buying is on hold.
