Nice Ragan, very much in the pocket and suits/serve the song in an understated way. that's indie ? Yep, that's Indiependent. Gretsch Roundbadge kit with some things swapped in. I think it was a 50s Ludwig chrome over brass snare and 60s Zildjian A's for cymbals.

I have the Indie Kits, but for the EZ Drums. Are the SDX Indie kits the same drummer and loops?

They’re different, Martin.
That sounds great Ragan. Totally wish I could play drums. Wish I had some extra dough to spend on a set and try to learn.

On the EZ-X Indie kits, the kicks are just ridiculously huge compared to the rest of the drums. Even Tom Wait's would say they're too big ;-)

With SD3/Indiependent, the kicks, or any of the drums, are whatever you make of them. There's an in mic, a 47Fet out mic, another kick "distance" mic, I think a subkick, and then you can have the kick be in any number of OH and room ambience mic options as much or as little as you'd like. It's huge if you want it to be huge, exactly like recording/mixing regular old drums. Can you not mix the mics as you wish in EZDrummer? I guess maybe that's the "EZ" part.

This is a life changer for me and my little one man fantasy land here. I can track drums at all hours of the day or night, quickly and easily, and then make them sound like whatever I want them to. Unreal.

I use my Maschine to program drums, but to be able to just play it all down the way you want and not having to overdub stuff would be great...but that's assuming I could become a proficient enough drummer on a set to even do that...which probably wouldn't happen.

All just a matter of hours and hours, of course. You certainly have the innate musicality. I’m not the world’s most amazing drummer but I have been playing for about 23 years.

Yeah, that's the reason I never pulled the trigger on a set...it's just too late lol. What I'm really wanting is to buy the ability, not the kit...and that ain't gonna happen. I would imagine I could probably get pretty decent at rudimentary stuff - but I can already do rudimentary with what I have.

Hmm Ragan’s drum Tracking Service: midi files for a fee !? Heh. That’s actually another reason I love this setup (not the fee part). I can easily throw down some drums for friends’ projects.

oh I think you should charge, but it would be cool cus you get a real drummer midi track and then load the samples you want ? Your drums up here in cdn are like 4 grand plus the sd3 software

I've often thought about a "Offer Your Services" part of the forum...Obviously, there are TONS of people in Nashville, LA, etc. that do this...but it would be nice to have a relationship with the people you're talking to. It could also possibly float the expense of the site. Like somebody charge $100 for drums and there's a $10 fee...Just spitballing.

Your drums up here in cdn are like 4 grand plus the sd3 software Yeah they’re not cheap but they’re, from the research I did, the cheapest way to get the really good feeling/translating V Drums. I got them for $2089 brand new from Proaudiostar, who regularly undercut everybody.

Were you able to get this patched into SD3 so that you can track while playing SD3 samples?

Were you able to get this patched into SD3 so that you can track while playing SD3 samples? I tried the standalone SD3 for that and even at the lowest SD3 buffer (64) it was srill not as immediate feeling as I wanted. So I monitor the Roland sounds while tracking, which is really pretty nice. There’s a lot of sounds and they’re very decent and fun to play.

PCI/e audio.
Implement that....and I bet you'll see all the rest of my seemingly absurd recommendations on this subject fall into place.
