The cards and layouts don't conform to anything existing. Its just my own layout to fit things in the way I needed and wanted.
The pics above are a few years old. I started this on a "dare" or mission from Johnny K who was looking to get away from the Sigma 2.5 or so years ago. He wanted 32 ins with 2 stereo buses for his workflow. Everything is modular.
I originally went with 2520 discrete receiver amps and then a super clean Burr Brown channel version. The overall sound was OK but not what I was after. I put the entire thing on the back burner for a few reasons. One was I did not want it to delay our move to Nashville since projects like this are very all consuming. The 2622 input channel version idea came to me at some point. Soon after we moved, I laid out and ordered the 2622 input cards. I've had them here since July. For a few reasons that I cannot disclose at this time, I was promoted to bust ass and get the updated channels done. I did that this past week. I took the box to my friend's studio yesterday where we proceeded to shoot it out against mixes that were just recorded thru various other summers. Due to work flow decisions, his current project is being mixed thru a summing mixer. Lucky for me, my box with the 2622 input channels was hands down the unanimous choice. Yesterday was a good day.
The next step is to see what this fucker will cost and determine if it makes sense to proceed to market.....

jsteiger I bet if you made it modular in banks of 8, it would be really popular. most folks don't have 32 outs on their interfaces, but they do have 8 or 16. That's probably the same reason most retail summing boxes are only 16ch..

That's probably the same reason most retail summing boxes are only 16ch.. The pics of the channels posted are in 4 channel increments. So someone could actually build it as a 4x2 if they wanted. I do have another input channel version that is concentric level control (cut only) over top of L-R pan for the A bus. B bus has concentric level controls. Those take up more room so you can only fit 16x4 in the standard 2U chassis. Those are in 2 channel increments.

The question I would have is whether or not it will have any busses? I'm sure it will sound great but the biggest thing missing from summing mixers, in my opinion, has been the ability to have a few busses. Four busses (plus the main mix) would be fantastic and take a summing mixer beyond sound enhancement and into the realm of genuine utilty.
Edit: I now see that it has two busses.
