It's great to hear more quality audio mixed through the Silver Bullet by drsax. Kudo's also to drsax for risking investment in a couple nuskool audio tools designed by enthusiasts here and elsewhere in our world. His work demonstrates the tool value is right there in front of us. Thanks donr - as far as gear is concerned, It’s a good time to be an engineer. So many amazing products out there. And I have always strayed away from status quo. Most of my studio is filled with pieces that are not the same as everyone else. I figure to have your own voice and personality is much easier if you find the tools that float your own boat and seperate you from others. I generally stay away from cookie cutter pieces with a few exceptions

As soon as I am flush once again a pair of chop shops is a must buy! Anybody see the behind the gear in this months TapeOp? Good to see Brad getting some press! Brad and our own Chris AKA SVART & Jeff Steiger are at the moment my 3 favorite designers who I can't wait to see what they bring us next! All 3 are super talented, bring us great gear and are pretty cool dudes! I wish I had their talents and skill sets! Agreed! Brad is a rockstar designer. Ive got a SB, 4 Electra 500 eq’s, plus I’ve got a one-off 1176 clone with a few mods that I bought of Brad many many years ago when he was just getting started designing. I’ve also got Svarts converter in here - another great piece. And Jeff’s Stuff is on my shortlist.

Brad's a rocket scientist. Seriously, he is. Don't ever ask him what he used to do. You'd have to have TS clearance, and he still probably would get busted. He was on course to be a NASA goldenboy until he found guitars and recording studio's - and subsequently figured out chicks dig guys with guitars in recording studios. After that, it was all downhill for Lockheed and NASA. But look at what WE got out of the deal!!!! Silver Bullets, Chroma's, Chop Shops and a bunch of new stuff...... So now we know where the name and the logo came from........

Piling on: I had the distinct privilege of interviewing Brad for the latest issue of Tape Op and really enjoyed picking his brain while he demo'd some of the gear! (And now I'm saving up for a Silver Bullet).

Any reviews of the Chromas? John - just bumped the Chroma thread with a Pro Tools Expert review of the Chroma. Also, here you go. This is a hoot. Streaky reviewing the Silver Bullet. OR as he calls it the "Louder Than Liftoff" by Silver Bullet. LOL Interesting "mastering" take on the unit. All the way through I was cringing....hoping he wasn't going to drop the SB. LOL

drbill, Is there a stepped "mastering" version of the "Louder then Lift Off by Silver Bullet" on the horizon?

It's not on the books right now, but you never know what might happen.........

I really want one of these. Love my Chop shops.
The controls aren't stepped like the chop shops? Dang.
Also, were does the Insert go in the circuit? before or after the Tone amps or Eq??
Edit: Never mind! Found the block diagram. Comes right in between the two sections.

The gain, output and EQ pots are 41 detented pots for easy recall.

Not the same knobs (they are larger with skirts), but the same pots themselves (or similar depending on electronic spec.)
And yes, great for recall with the hash marks surrounding the pots and underneath the clear skirt. Each hash mark is a 1/2 hour increment and each "click" is a 15 minute increment - there are hash marks and ONE click between hashmarks. i.e : 11:15 is 3 clicks from straight up - 12:00. 4 Clicks right of straight up is 1:00, etc.. Hope that makes sense. Or you can just count clicks.
