Congrats on the special edition of your and drbill's tone amp! Must be doing very well in the marketplace to have a special edition Thanks ChaseUTB! The Silver Bullets are doing great. The new edition is part of the LTL philosophy of offering a different "look" with some different options. I'm going to end up buying a couple of them for the Carnhills which offer a little different flavor than the Ed Andersons.

It would be cool to offer a switchable transformer mod for those who can't afford a Void Corp Silver Bullett. Obviously it would take people comfortable with that work to install/ use. I'm not a designer lol the idea sounded nice in my head though and I'm sure you could come up with a better way to perform the mid so even a noob could do it

They will be unique to these limited edition units. No principled supporter of the Rogue Planet Command mission should ever consider going over to the dark side of Void Corp. User modifications will also void your warranty." Brad

Just for the Record I would be lost with the Silver Bullet! Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I'm not sure I want anyone to be lost. Is there something I can help clarify or explain? Brad

To be honest, I think that's the biggest question about the SB - how the hell do I use it. My understanding is that it's either a front end mic pre with API or neve flavor or a back end coloring device for the two mix. That correct?

- True Stereo Mic Pre with either API or Neve flavors, or a cascaded API AND Neve Flavor (unique and one of a kind) - "Back End" Tone Amps for re-amping and mixing - Baxendall HF & LF Program EQ - HPF "Tight Filter" - Neve Console Vintage Filter - High Res Metering - Unique work flow i/o
For more application notes, check out the manual on the LTL website. It's got lots of different application notes and suggested ways to use the box.

My understanding is that it's either a front end mic pre with API or neve flavor or a back end coloring device for the two mix. That correct? Hey John, I appreciate that feedback. I'd really like to improve the description of what the box is and does if it's not making sense to folks on the website. What do you feel is missing or confusing from my product page? store.louderthanliftoff.com/collections/all/products/silver-bullet-drbills-stereo-tone-ampBut basically you have it in a nutshell. We call it a Tone-Amp. But you can use the box as either a bus coloring device (for the mix or stems) or as a stereo mic preamp. There are two MOJO Amps based on classic API and Neve console flavors. You get to choose whether you want to engage one or both of those, and in which combination. That is all coupled with a tone shaping section based on high and low pass filters, and a 2-band Baxandall EQ. Tone-Amp = MOJO Amps + Tone Shaping. If anyone has any suggestions how to best explain what this box does in layman's terms I'm all ears. I really want it to be clear and understandable. Thanks for your input! Brad

Are you taking advantage of the workflow aspects of the box, or just using a single set of inputs and outputs? Brad

Oh - it's more likely it's just my knowledge level...I wouldn't consider myself an engineer- more like a songwriter that has delved deeply into home recording - so you're dealing with someone learning as he goes. But I think that could be said for a lot of your potential customer base. I'll take a look at the link - it might actually explain it perfectly.

I'm looking at this thing and I'm angry.
I'm angry I'm such a cheapskate. This looks bonkers!
Almost everything I work on gets a touch of a Neve-style preamp/line amp. It could be a preamp when tracking, a line amp (and eq) during mixing, makeup gain when passive summing, or all three.
Having the API-style in addition seems like a great option.
Now, all I have to do is find a way to get it into my budget...

The SB is a chunk of change - no doubt about it. But when you look at what you're getting (stereo everything, and a build quality and the best components money can buy) it's actually a bargain. Brad is selling it direct to keep the price out of the 3k + range so that more folks can afford it. If it was going through dealers, it would almost certainly be up there. If you read and follow the application notes and apply a Silver Bullet into your ITB or other work flow it will transform your recordings. Good luck with the savings!!! <thumbsup>
