I don't doubt that it's a fantastic piece of gear worth every penny (and more!) of it's price.
Maybe I should restate what I said: "Now, all I have to do is find a way to get my studio gear fund built up enough to get one!"
The way I got my two Neve-style preamps/line amps with Carnhills was pretty drawn-out, annoying, and also lucky: a couple years of ebay hunting for these super-functional but non-sexy pieces, getting them and using them for a short time, some problems coming up in the pieces, sending 'em to the factory for repair, the factory waiting 3 months to tell me they hadn't worked on 'em yet and they were starting that day, the factory waiting another month to tell me they hadn't started on them but would soon, the factory saying they weren't going to fix them so they were just going to send me replacements, the factory telling me they didn't have direct replacements so they were going to send me the upgraded versions.
Soooo, all-told, I got two "modded" versions of a Neve-style preamp by buying two of the stock preamps on ebay at around 50% off each. Less that full price on one unmodded, I got two modded versions. All I had to do was hunt for a long while, buy 'em, deal with problems, send them away for nearly six months and pay for shipping a couple times!
...if that gives you any indication of my gear budget.
Either way, I can't wait to get one (it WILL happen) but it'll be a bit!

The Silver Bullet is fantastic.
Though I'm mostly ITB, I wanted to add a couple of channels of preamps before my 2192 (I was using a BLA Apollo and Unison stuff but was having a little trouble with latency when routing back through the 2192 for its color - long story).
I've had 1066's, RND Stuff, Joel Cameron preamps and GTQC's, so I'm familiar with the Neve sound. This nails it, but with the unique ability to drive and attenuate (Joels piece had this too). I've had 512's and API Channel Strips, and the SB does this too.
I have not had anything that allowed these two tones to be blended in series. This is amazing and really allows for unique, tailored tones.
The EQ options are simple yet perfect. As easy as dialing in stuff on 610's - but with more useful frequency options.
And, of course, it is really a smart routing design, such that it can be left patched in for mixing - turn a knob and the output changes to a great two bus tone and EQ shaping device.
I'm not going to say I wasn't getting decent results ITB, but this sounds better, a whole lot faster. Very similar to the results over on the RG thread with the poll - that second OTB mix is similar to the difference I hear when using the Silver Bullet.
As for price - I mean, this is basically four preamps (two API and two Neve) and two channels of EQ. I don't know how they can make a product this beautiful and awesome for this amount, but I've learned not to question smart guys. However they are pulling it off, I consider myself a very thankful beneficiary.

Thanks for the mini-review / user thoughts mjheck!! Yes, even just slapping the SB on the mix bus helps, but when you embrace it's workflow with tracking, re-amping, and then mixing with it - you'll find you're actually achieving that old school paradigm of "track on a Neve, mix on an API" syndrome when all we had were consoles to work on. Both food groups embedded into your tracks!! I'm tracking with A, N or A>N, N>A depending on my preference and the sound I'm after at the time, then re-amping ITB synths and Kontakt instruments during production phase, then using it on the mix 2 bus and individual instruments when mixing. After that I use it when I'm mastering with it on the A mojo block because it shaves transients so smoothly and nets me a higher RMS level without compression. That many trips thru such killer circuitry takes you back 30 years easily -- and without a tape machine!!! If anyone wants to check the SB out (I know it's a little hard cause there is not a dealer network where you can try before buying) - just know that brad has a killer 2 week money back guarantee and is very cool about it all. You can try for 2 weeks, and decide if it's what you need -- or not. I should say though that you might want to actually have the money before trying, cause only one guy out of close to a couple hundred has returned one, and I think that was cause he had some financial difficulties. So..... be forewarned... :-) Cheers!!!! to those using what I believe is the most significant piece of outboard gear I've bought in 20 years. (I am biased though..... 4 units going on 6 as soon as the void corp editions ship..... I use em on everything......)

Super Hot, Super Cool - whatever. I finally got my Void Corp Edition and it's ROCKIN'!!!!! The Void Corp Silver Bullet is dead center below the VMu. The VCSB has replaced SBProto1. It's moving out to a new rack. Sorry buddy. You think it's seen it's better days? LOL

The new road worn edition! It's a thing with guitars and clothes, why not rack gear!

Will do. I use buss compression very lightly but on most everything - mostly for the widening of image and the extra depth of hitting real transformers - and am anxious to see how the SB can add to my hybrid workflow. I'm all about analog sound but digital workflow and recall. So this should be a great extension of how I already work

Hey all,
I wanted to give my friends here dibs on the last two units I have available in the current run. I'm about to be sold out for a few weeks. I have two B-stock units available at a discount. Contact me if you are interested. If I mention these on FB or my mailing list they will go super fast.
thanks, Brad

and that you can patch all the rest of your OB into its MS circuitry: nice design move ! Actually why I posted it here as you can patch/insert into SB as well

Actually why I posted it here as you can patch/insert into SB as well Wait, but you can already do that with your outboard and some freeware MS encode/decode plugins. Just do hardware inserts in your DAW. Encode to MS before the send and then decode after the return. No hardware needed. drsax - Looks like it shows up tomorrow! Brad

Just do hardware inserts in your DAW. Encode to MS before the send and then decode after the return. Unfortunately this won't work with the Silver Bullet since the SB does not have separate left and right controls. It has a single set of controls for both left and right. However, you can do this with two Chromas. drsax - Looks like it shows up tomorrow! Brad

I hope you and drsax will chime back in and share your experiences. Honestly, the comments and rave reviews have been the BEST and are in large part what drive Brad and I to sit around and come up with these wild ideas..... Chroma was also a labor of love, and we're anxious to see it hit the streets and get into the hands of creative folks. Congrats and Enjoy!!!
