It’s all market driven.
UK bank interest rates are so close to zero that I’ve heard the next step is to start charging you to keep your money in the bank.
That flushes liquidity out into assets, in whatever form they take! People are paying big money to own things like “the first ever tweet” To me that is nuts!!
COVID has amplified this by causing a shortage of so many different products and parts that make up products.
I bought a two year old second hand car a year ago, under normal market conditions it would on average loose $5K in this first year of my ownership …. Currently it’s worth slightly more than I payed for it …. That’s bonkers.
No doubt things will even out as supply comes back to normal.
$13.5K vintage LA2A’s might keep going up though as there’s no more of those being made!

I just hope people don't look at the prices and decide they can't risk using this stuff in sessions anymore. I'm running into this right now, owners trying to tell me to use the 414's instead of the vintage mics and that the chinese mics are just as good. I've never had owners of studio's tell me that, but I HAVE had them tell me that to use the vintage "M49's, C12's, etc. - the tweaky high end stuff" - that there is an uncharge to keep them properly maintained. If it's a fair upcharge, I'm 100% OK with that. It costs real money to keep them up and functional. In in my head I’m like: well if I break it I bought it. Oh darn. Honey, I have some real bad news…

Maybe the Klark Teknik stuff iis getting some of the vintage vibe, because the EQP-KT has gone up 12% and the 76-KT up 10% at Sweetwater since I bought. Hope my order for the 2A-KT doesn't inflate by the time it comes in!

I'm sure they will, even though I don't have actual money down on it. They don't require and hold when you place an order, it just bills and ships when it comes in (and I'm sure they won't bump the price). The only funny thing I had with this order was that I ordered the trio, and they've come in one at a time and didn't alert the salesman because the whole order wasn't in (and he knew the 2A' would follow months later). Good thing I would occasionally check the site, and saw each "in stock" (I think "3 units" both times) at different times, and called the salesman. He says he has it fixed in the system now, and it should fire when the 2A' comes in ("October").

The Behringer mounting (b)racket for the headphone system has been out of stock everywhere for months, now it's back and up 17%.
