I know, I know. It’s been asked before…but it’s still and interesting question. Let’s limit to 3.
I’ll start. Beatles Petty Rodney Foster
Narrowing to three is hard to do.

As far as recording... Pete's demos for The Who and his Solo stuff. (Including of his demos/produced intended for other acts)
I'd be happy just to be in Pete's Ballpark. In fact, even the Parking Lot across the street! Chris P.S. For singing, it'll be a loooong post! (But at the epicenter would be Sinatra/Nat/Darin)

Impossible to limit it to three. There's the singer/songwriter side of me, the James Taylors/Carole Kings/CSNY and Neil Young/Donovan etc, the classic (blues/heavy/hard)rock side, the Deep Purples/Zeppelins/Frees/Whos/Creams/Allmans/Hendrixes, even Blue Cheer and protopunkers MC5, of course Elton John/Billy Joel; the prog side, Genesis/Yes/Van der Graaf et al, the modern rock side, Corey Taylor/Foo Fighters/Dead Daisies/Rival Sons/Slash w/Myles Kennedy etc, the blues side - old and modern, the three Kings/Muddy Waters/Willie Dixon/Bonamassa/Joanna Connor/Tyler Bryant... of course, not forgetting my good old Sixties heroes, Beatles/Stones/Zappa/Dave Dee/The Hollies/The Kinks/The Move/Love Affair..., 80s favorites like Nik Kershaw/10CC/Tears For Fears/Chicago/Toto... I mean the list is endless and I still enjoy all of it. Why limit myself? Oh yes, I hate punk and I don't like jazz, even though I enjoy Miles Davis, when it doesn't get too wild...

Wow this is too hard if I have to pick just three. I graduated from High School in 1980 so the 70s is what I really consider the music I “grew up with”. That’s the vibe I am after in every song I am working on. The project that drumsound is helping me with by playing drums on it and plinker by adding a little banjo is influenced by everything from The Spinners to the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. I have mentioned this before but somebody listened to one of my demos not too long ago and said, “hey that sounds like Gary Ricrath from REO Speedwagon is sitting in with Neil Young and Crazy Horse”. I knew I had hit the target. But what the hell, here’s three: Derek and the Dominos “Acoustic” Neil Young Pre Michael McDonald Doobie Brothers

Averaged over time:
Pink Floyd Beatles ELO (I am using this to cheat because I include the whole Jeff Lynne ecosystem here - Petty, Harrison, Wilburys, etc)
Restricting average to the last few months:
Stealers Wheel ELO America

The only one who can pull a better John is Neil Finn.

I'm terrible with this question. Here's mine:
Imogen Heap Joe Hisaishi Pretty much any 2010-era indie (Vampire Weekend, Foals, Phoenix, Boy, Dragonette, St. Vincent, etc.)
Honorable mention to Dead Kennedys, Ceremony, and Charli XCX.

That is one of my all time favorites from start to finish.

Here's mine: Imogen Heap Joe Hisaishi Pretty much any 2010-era indie (Vampire Weekend, Foals, Phoenix, Boy, Dragonette, St. Vincent, etc.) Honorable mention to Dead Kennedys, Ceremony, and Charli XCX. I did LOTs of gigs, doing sound for the DKs. As an influence, Uh, no. Not even for punk, really. You need to check out some of the ORIGINAL SF punk bands. Crime. The Avengers. The Dils. VKTMS. Negative Trend. Even The Lewd.
Nina Crawford with the VKTMS was incredible, both as a singer/vocalist and as a great harp player - the only person I know of who merged blues harp with punk rock. Successfully, I might add. RIP, Nina. Cancer.....
Bet you've never heard of any of those....
The DKs were very derivative.
The ORIGINAL SF punk bands. DKs were 3rd generation, at best. And Jello's a dick.
Lewd is still going, occasionally. So are The Avengers.
I worked sound at The Mabuhay Gardens for around 10 years, with breaks for touring. I know SF punk pretty damn well. (Original bassist for Fast Floyd and the Firebirds. '77-'78.)

Wait, didn't you hear the man? You can't possibly have been influenced by DK because John did LOTS of gigs and blah blah blah blah fuckin' blah "As an influence, uh, no." Seriously, johneppstein , do you ever wear yourself out with this shit? Like, how do you type that out and not cringe so hard that you pull a muscle and then, once recovered, immediately delete it? If cork sniffing were an olympic sport...

Lodged irretrievably in my head is a wild cocktail of Remain in Light, On the Beach, and Key Lime Pie.
(David and Gillian and OK Computer are deep in there too.)
