Yeah, just did a critical listen of "She Said, She Said" to figure out what Ringo was doing on drums. What's the point? If there's such a thing as musical inflation, these guys were printing money.

Ah, is that a criticism ? . Personally, thought it a great track, fantastic drums and interesting premise:,write a song with one chord? To each their own !

I once got in a heated discussion with somebody that said the Beatles would have been better with a real drummer like John Bonham...
I had a good laugh until I realized he was serious.

Oh man, I love that song. Ringo is a beast too. Not in the athletic flashy sense at all, but he plays to the music and has a sound.

It's so good that what's the point in trying to do anything? I was thinking "oh, I know the type of drum part I'm thinking about... I'll just cue up She Said."

While we're here, I always thought I'd love to hear Ian Paice in the Experience versus Mitch. What a beast on those Purple mkI records, and 'In Rock'.

Ringo is so awesome on this track (and many, many, many others) as a drummer myself I'd easily put him in my top 3

Ya, exactly, Ringo in his own drumming way was just as creative as the other Beatles.

I always heard Rinho didn’t actually play all the stuff in the studio - that sometimes John and Pail did…don’t know if that’s true.

Love this song. And Ringo plays a right handed kit though he is left handed. He plays enough to be interesting and stays out of the way when it is important. They are also drifting away from "pop" for lack of a better term. And reversed at the end beautifully!

The Ringo thing is one of those old debates where there's no convincing anyone of anything. Some people view musicianship as sport. Like as if every band would be better if it had Neil Peart on the skins and Yngwie Malmsteen on the guitar. I always think of it as 'stunt' playing. Like "dude you've got to hear this guy, he's f*cking SIIIIICKKK" and I listen and my mind goes, "Oh, stunt guitar, ok...I can respect that that took an awful, awful lot of practice to achieve. Also I don't ever want to put that music on and listen to it."
Ringo is awesome because of the songwriting space he occupies in that specific band. His playing (not to mention his tuning/aesthetic sensibilities) are perfect for The Beatles. And that's really the only criteria I personally care about. What's the resultant output of the given group of people playing off of and inspiring each other? Do I like it? In the case of The Beatles it's a big yes for me. The idea of 'swapping' anyone out for anyone else is nonsensical because then you don't have The Beatles, you have...something else. Maybe it would be cool too but it would be a whole different thing.

I always heard Rinho didn’t actually play all the stuff in the studio - that sometimes John and Pail did…don’t know if that’s true. He played the overwhelming majority of it. Paul has steady time and can drum. But Ringo's style and personality always shines through. I've always said that the opening fill on She Said is the best opening drum fill in rock and roll.

Yeah the 'Ringo didn't play on some stuff' has blossomed into legend. Paul played on a few things, and you can hear it when he does, it doesn't really sound like Ringo.
