Instant problem solving with no side effects, in my experience. Usually with the default settings. Possibly, but what makes it different than anything else I've tried? I can see where the default settings might be perfect for a few vocalists and good for a range of vocalists, but also likely to be inappropriate for all vocalists whose essess fall outside the 'range.' Well, you can adjust the range to whatever you need. It performs hassle-free, transparent de-essing with two different operation modes. Usually you don't even have to configure it, but if you need to, it's got what, 3 controls? It's got a 30-day demo. If I had to sum up what's different to anything else you've tried... Well, I'm not you, but I'd say: what you tried didn't work. This one probably will

Just to be sure, you have tried the Fabfilter deesser and it doesn’t do the trick for you? No I haven't. I've only tried a handful of de-essers, but some good ones like eiosis ..and multi-band compressors. What does Fabfilter bring to the table that the others don't? Instant problem solving with no side effects, in my experience. Usually with the default settings.

My voice can create weird resonances on many pop filters of different materials. It’s a buzzing sound that can sound like the mic is distorting in the low mids. It only happens on certain vowels and only if I’m very close to the filter. I’ve learned to avoid it!

I’ve not experienced anything quite as pleasant in the upper frequencies as a good EQ boosting a good 67. It’s just so inviting. I wholeheartedly agree with this. <thumbsup> I’m gonna echo this. When I tested and bought my U67 (reissue) the Soyuz 017 was almost coming on top just because it was brighter. As soon as we put the slightest top shelf boost on the U67 I almost got tears in my eyes.

More tube mic pre's on the way. Looking for something QUITE different. Chose a pair of the Coil CA-70S's. Picked up a Soloman Mics Lo Freq SubMic. Should be cool. Caved in on the Vanguard V44S. It's backordered for a week or two though. The rotating capsules is what pushed me over the edge. I hope it sounds half as good as the hype! Look forward to putting it on OH along with the coils. Should rock. It sounds stellar. Can’t wait to hear your impressions.

Even if they're not exactly alike, the PF20T is still going for that type of sound and I think it does a great job providing the midrange growl that you would want from a B15. So I try to just use the PF20T for what it is rather than trying/hoping for it to be identical to a B15 (but it is close). It's just an excellent studio bass amp with a great sound and some really nice DI options. I don't lust for a B15 near as much as I used to. Definitely on my "to buy" list. I wonder if the difference between the 20 and the 50 is worth it, since probably the 50 is still not loud enough for gigs.

All this tube Ampeg talk is making my wallet hurt!!! I have a PF800, which sounds surprisingly good, for live use. One of those tube heads seems to be in my future...
Do they really do the B15 sound?

I sold my REDDDi and now go direct via my UA 2-610. No big change. To me, the REDDI absolutely delivers on its promise. It really sounds like a line out tap from an Ampeg B-15. And it's stellar on Wurlitzer as well, though I like to feed it a bit more gain before I hit it.

Took a brief look at the classical stuff on this site and I completely understand why this is helping a lot of people, especially non classical singers. I also know what the gentleman is doing incorrectly in his classical approach and somethings missing in the descriptions tells me a lot. They don’t talk about the lower larynx at all and you can hear in his vocal production that the larynx is more neutral. When end I have a few minute to write my dissertation on technique and warms ups I will. It’s going to take me a few. You've actually hit on a key point of CVT. They are completely style agnostic. In their view, the only incorrect technique is that which damages the voice. Anything else, no matter how "bad" it might sound to our ears, is fair game. They also claim (and prove) that you can sing ANY sound in a safe and healthy way, even those which sound like you are about to cough blood! So, what you are considering incorrect for a classical approach would be a stylistic choice that falls outside the classical aesthetic. Classical singing has very strict aesthetic rules, and in my experience classical teachers label anything that doesn't fit the "bel canto" sound as damaging for the vocal cords. It would be the same as me saying that someone has incorrect blues guitar technique because they do right-hand tapping a la Van Halen That said, I'm very interested in your post about your routines, etc. EDIT: larynx position is a color choice. You can make any sound with elevated larynx for a lighter sound, or lower larynx for a darker sound. Of course, the larynx needs to rise for higher notes, but even then there's a stylistic voice color choice.

And it covers all styles from classical to death metal. How are you using “scientific” here? Like, the book has blind, peer-reviewed clinical research behind it? Yes, absolutely. Bass “growl” and distortion help tremendously. For me, most of the time the bass needs to sound ugly when soloed.

If you don’t want a patchbay, the Silver Bullet is unique. If you can use one, the Black Box HG-2 is what you are describing, and it is awesome. I can’t imagine not having it.

Maag EQ2 for $29, I wonder if I should get it... Any fans? Why the EQ2 over the EQ4? It’s $20 cheaper and I don’t really need another EQ. However, I’m intrigued about the Air band, that could be a useful tool to have in the arsenal.
