My wife does etsy. There payment system is terrible. They use there own etsy payment system for you to pay there fees. There expense report system is a nightmare as they charge as they go. Since they listed on the stock exchange there fees went up. could this be the death of reverb? . There etsy search engine algorithm changes regularly. Hopefully there is a big waiting period before they bring this stuff over to reverb. Etsy sellers left in droves when they made these changes. I bought some stuff on Etsy and always used Paypal... No problem whatsoever. I never use Reverb, everything is located in the US, useless if you're in Europe.

I've been following Eric for a couple of years now, love his work and insight. His guitars on his Slash and Third Eye Blind production sound amazing. Bought the Fabfilter Saturn after I saw his drum mix video and the Hofa IQ-EQ is on my list. That said, why do guys like him have a contact function on their website when they never answer?

Wow, I'm amazed anyone remembers Jude Cole. What a great artist, I have all his albums. Haven't heard them in a while, guess it's time to dig them out again. Thanks Ward. Back to Helios...

Congrats to Don and the gang, hope you read the small print carefully...
But Frontiers seems to be an okay label. Looking forward to hearing some new stuff! Rock on...

Reviving this thread for those who are still interested in the Sie-Q. Eric Valentine did a nice shoot-out video comparing the Soundtoys plugin to the original:
Interesting...

...Masterdesk is handy for a quick rough master when the artist wants to leave with something louder than the non-mastered roughs... Unfortunately, they forgot to discount Masterdesk, it's still $299.
I might grap the SPL TD this time. Love the SSL consoles, by the way, I tend to prefer the E Channel.

I'm trying to get in contact with Pete Thorn for some guitar tracks. I send him a couple of messages via the contact form on his website, but no reaction. Does anybody here know him personally and can put me in touch with him?

One thing I did was get a VU meter plug. Set drum levels to -3 db, put the bass on, set that level until meter hits 0.db. It's been the best way to balance the low end I've found yet.
Great tip, thanks Martin, I'll try that.

Cool idea - if it works. There are some videos on YouTube that explain what it does. I only wish one of them would have used some real music instead of the usual electronic drivel. I'd like to know how it works with real instruments.

This looks nice and for the covenience, a plugin like this one probably unbeatable. But, since I love the tactile feel of actual stuff and knobs, I have a couple of real spring reverbs, including the RE201, and I just asked a friend to build me a tube spring reverb, just like the old Fender one. Plus, I also have the UAD BX20. I guess I'm all set.

I bought the SSL plugins a few weeks ago, when they were on sale already. Definitely worth it and a no-brainer for that price. I only wish they would do one of the old Neve 8048s or similar. I like their multi-channel emulation. I bought the UAD Neve 88 console years ago, but I could never get a feel for it...

I liked #1 better, more bite. #2 sounded more rounded. That said, if I had only heard #2 without the comparison, I would have loved it too. Nothing wrong with it.

My keyboard player. He has 5 of them. Mick Jagger was once punched in the face by Charlie Watts when he referred to the latter as 'my drummer'. Better be careful.
That said, nothing beats a real one but I have to make do with plugins (VB3 or B4). Sending them through a Marshall amp with spring reverb and two Dynacord CLS22s or, alternatively, a NEO Ventilator, often does the trick, especially when they're in a mix.

Levon, thanks for the link. A long video for the youtube attention span, but really informative. It was great to see Shelly Yakus again. I haven't seen him in decades, although I spoke to him when he did a surround SACD mix of 'Reaper' for SONY in the mid 2000's. Shelly is a huge talent, a pioneer and IMO underappreciated for his expertise and his ears and his style of record making. We did two studio LP’s (as well as the platinum “Some Enchanted Evening” live record) with Shelly at Record Plant, “Agents” and “Spectres” and they stand alone sonically and stylistically from the rest in the spread of our catalog. Nice to get props from Warren Huart. For me, and the band, and that he obviously appreciated Shelly Yakus’ contribution to “Reaper.” I invite all here to watch this video at your leisure, if only to know me and BOC’s music a little better, and I’m making some notes and will post again about my recollections recording this song and commenting on the video. Of particular interest is the revelation to me that Shelly's multiple guitar amp mic blending included limiting of some of the mics. I did not know that! But he had a great ear for blending the mics always, and it went to tape that way. And I still can't get my home recordings to sound as good as Shelly's. But I still want to. Thanks for joining in Don, and on my birthday too
Let's hear more details on how it was working with Shelly Yakus. I like the man and his work.

Yes, expose him. People like that should not be able to take anybody's money in the future. And, as others pointed out, you might save a few more people from getting hurt.
