I am slaaammmed all this week - me too... maybe thurs morn when we get together. if we use a pre-recorded vocal file or whatever, it'd be easy and quick to run comparison files of STA and stereo mix maybe for the A/D.

Hm, i would really like see some of you guys shooting out the RM DAs against some of the DAs you guys seem to like... Preferably the standard version of the 1794a and the SuperBeast.... ;-)
Best regards, Martin

How do u even accurately shootout D/A? it's all about the guys in the room, write down your answers with no conversation or looks at one another, thats about as good as it gets, i'd assume who ever owns the shootout studio/monitors your listening through, would warrant the most credibility in their assessment by virtue of familiarity, just make sure to level match.

Looking forward to this. I'd love to know how close a budget converter can get to the Burl. I don't think it's going to be "close" to the same thing, ones got a transformer one doesn't, if they use the missing links, I'm putting my $ on the RM being better in both regards 8) You cannot take the transformer out of line on the burl, that bugs me, I personally do not want a transformer permanently on my converter. I can't wait to see what the boys find out on this either though MJB

So, what did you think of the power amp? Sorry - meant to post about this earlier...We compared Dan's Class D DIY to my Lexicon 212 (Rebranded Bryston 3BST)...and Dan's amp was definitely better. Muuuch bigger bottom and smoother highs. Maybe a bigger stereo field too. It's on my long, long list of stuff to buy. Dan also brought a Tube DI that he had made. Damnit, I want that BAD too. Smoooth, and thick. Whole nother' level of bottom end in comparison to just going directly through the Apollo. Consistent all the way through the frequency spectrum. dandeurloo
