Thinking about the V2. The demos sounds good, and so do the description of it bringing out the nice sound that is there without sounding harsh. How could one describe the tone of the unit itself excluding the EQ if that makes sense?
I got this Stam SSL with N-style transformers, and in the end I mostly leave the transformers out of the chain. Makes the sound slower and kills some spark. While I might be more of an API guy if talking archetypes, I might not want my Capi VP28 on the stereo after tracking through them.
There is Opamps and Jensen transformers. While I would like some analogue magic, I would not want having to start reaching for the high shelf to balance out the boxtone. Especialy not on the whole mix.

The box tone on the V2 is pleasant but pretty subtle. I doubt you’ll mind it. There’s less tonal shift than something like a 550.

Thanks! Subtile and pleasant is in line with my impression.

Are there a lot of substitutes? These look right up my alley.

Between the rack version and the 500 series? They are identical circuits. The only differences are the 500 series does not have mastering mode and a slightly lower voltage spec due to the lunchbox power format. To the user I would say the experience is identical.

Wait ... Isn't this the console that will have dynamics on every channel? If I remember correctly, they went for a fet compressor, or am I hallucinating?

Yes, dynamics on every channel, but our client opted for a more modern-sounding / transparent diode bridge in this case. So the client can select different compressor types? Is the console always custom made?

In this case, we sent two prototype compressors and they picked. We can do custom from a blank sheet of paper if that’s what someone wants.
I’m hoping this new console design will meet most people’s needs, or at least will be a jumping off point with minor modifications.
This desk is not really full inline and not split - it has a mic/line input and a tape input, along with a large fader and a separate monitor path like an inline desk, but separate bus cards like a split design. The monitor path can be assigned to the stereo bus, and the bus cards also have stereo inputs assignable to the monitor path. In the 16 channel footprint you get 52 inputs at mixdown.
With a couple different channel strip options I’d think we can be good to go.

I am so not in the market for this, but if I was it really does look awesome and I bet it sounds even better.
What eq is in it if I may ask?
Cheers, Geoff

Matt - I'm not in the market (at least at this point), but what's the thought process behind the elevated design? Have you thought about a more low lying, acoustically neutral streamlined approach? The big elevation change consoles look awesome, but I'd never buy one due to reflections. At least that's been my experience. PS - looks KILLER and I'm sure sounds awesome.

What eq is in it if I may ask? The same as our V2 / V25 equalizers. A bridged T, three band switched EQ with discrete op amps for gain. Similar-ish to a 550A.
